Location Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Comments from Alan Harbourne, Beecroft, New South Wales, Australia
Designed by Eric Apperly in 1923, with some 60 bunkers, this mature hilly parkland course, with fairways lined by native and exotic trees, is always immaculately groomed, and is picture perfect, particularly in Spring, and Autumn. It hosted the state mens and womens amater championships in 1998, and the state (N.S.W.) P.G.A. championship in 1952, won by the legendry Kel Nagle with a course record 63, which was subsequently equalled by Tony Gresham, who is now our current club captain. It has also hosted two N.S.W. champion of champions. Tony Gresham has twenty five club championships to his credit, along with a New South Wales Open in 1975, a South Australian Open in 1978, a World Amateur Title in 1972, beating Ben Crenshaw in Argentina for it, three N.S.W amateurs, one Australian amateur, thirteen State Vardon Trophies, the 1980 French Amateur, and numerous Foursome, and Mixed Foursome titles.
