Nice course well worth it
Nice course some lovely holes and nice atmosphere- would definitely go back - some work going on but minimal disruption
Surprisingly underwhelming
No staff at 8am, greens covered in leaves and that's no exaggeration. Pace was good until 10th hole. It's seems to be the case that the regulars were starting of at this hole(10th). Instant back up of all the people who started of on the front 9. Maybe I was expecting more, considering the course is promoted as "the home golf course of Rory mcilroy". My group of playing partners play all over the country, usually first thing in the morning, and nearly every course has their greens sorted at the least.
Worth the visit.
Lovely views, interesting layout, a bit hilly for a carry bag but managed nonetheless. Great food in the restaurant, careful that one room is a private members only bar. Played in 3:30 and it would have been less had it not been for the twosome holding us up in front.
See for yourself
Glorious weather conditions, course in immaculate condition, everything perfect for what was a very pleasant experience. Technically challenging with good greens I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone.
An experience on a course that made a champion
We where greeted by the pro who made us very welcome. The fairways where quite soft which helped as I don't beleave there is a flat bit on the entire course except for the greens, which where good for the time of year. I didn't find the course particularly testing as my local course also presents uneven lies on the majority of holes. Overall a good course and a must to play if you are in the area just to say you have trod the same turf as Rory.
Spring round
Friendly welcome for a lone golfer. Was introduced to a couple of members who guided me around the course. Course has some quite severe slopes in places and was a little soggy after a period of rain, causing 2 short par 3's to be out of use. Most par 4's are less than 400 yds from visitors tees, so premium on accuracy into green from non-flat lies, either across slope or up & down slope. Some greens have a definite "do not miss" side due to drop offs.
No food on a Monday which was a little disappointing.
Some impressive trophies won by the 2005 club champion.
Well worth the visit
Not as hard as I'd heard
I'm not a great golfer so had avoided Hollywood in the pas as id heard it was very hard, but i couldn't avoid when the great price on tee off times came up. Course was in great condition for time of year , staff couldn't have been more helpful. And I managed to get a few pars , so all good.
Tight Wee Course
Some nice holes in what is a tightly laid out, well maintained course.
Great Test Of Golf
if you enjoy hills this is the course for you, alot of shots will be played with the ball below or above your feet if you dont hit the middle of the fairway. The course has some good long holes if you hit the ball long and can keep it straight! The sand in the bunkers was soft so easy to escape from. Sadly the greens werent good. The ball didnt roll smooth and stopped quickly due to the greens being slit and sanded.
great course
great course- had a fantadtic day
Great test
Great course and great test for hill stances. Staff and fellow golfers were approachable for advice.
Holywood GC
The 2014 "Champion Golfer of the Year" Rory McIlroy still calls Holywood his home course. This is a fairly good parkland course that will ask you to execute a variety of shots to get around in good numbers. This is an easy walking course among the trees and gentle slopes off Belfast Lough. You only need to do 2 things well here, limit the number of errant shots you pull out of the bag and hold a hot putter and your score will reflect that. Friendly members, cordial clubhouse staff, great Guinness & one of the best trophy rooms around.

Hilly but with great views of Belfast Lough
We were greeted by friendly staff and were impressed by good clubhouse facilities. The course was in fine condition and is well worth playing.
Excellent challenging course
We played at Holywood at the end of July, when of course, it was raining! Just before we teed off there was an almighty downpour and we could see puddles appearing on a few greens. Nevertheless, the greens were still firm and fast and the fairways still had plenty of run.
Holywood is quite a hilly course - hardly surprising given it's location - and represents a really good challenge (for me anyway). If I had one criticism it's that it only has a single par 5, but there are a couple of nice long par 4s.
I've played it a couple of times now, and overall, it's a very good course and even if you're playing badly, has some great views down over Belfast Lough. HIghly recommended.
Great course
We had a great round of golf here. Greens were fast and hard to reach. Some of the hole you were playing blind. Would recommend a vist here.
Course has amazing views over Belfast
1st time playing this course and first impressions I was top quality especially the greens and also the fairways were great, the only fault of the course would be it's a bit hilly and you would probably need a buggy , but I thoroughly enjoyed my round of golf around Hollywood, thanks :)
Great Club
The course conditions are excellent with great green that are very well maintained. Value you money. The clubhouse is also very modern with a excellent Pro shop and restaurant.
