I think Charley Brown said it best...."Awwwww"
Heard from a couple guys that they play here to get in some practice when they don't have the time to play at a full length course but they forgot to tell me not to expect much. I went for a quick outting with my son and well there was nothing quick about it. We had a 8:40 tee time and at arrival were told that their men's club had more players than they had booked prior so we finally teed off at 9:05. They had groups of 5 & 6 going out together in theirs a mens club. The starter told a couple groups and myself that we could not go out the back side, which was wide open. As we sat patiently waiting in position to tee off there was a foursome that came walking by and said the starter told them it was ok to go out the back because they were so backed up; I guess because we are not buddy buddy with the starter we don't get the same courtesy as others. Fairways are weeds with divots as far as the eye can see and no repair, no sand on carts to assist the grounds crew either. Greens and tee boxes are lined next to each other which is ok but the protective netting needs to be repaired, almost got hit on 3 different holes. Greens were the best thing on the course but were all flat and easy to read. Well I guess what I'm saying is keep your cash.....
Good course
I've played at this course a lot due to the fact that it is reasonably priced and the course has a little bit of everything. If you want to pull out your driver, they have a few holes for that. Along with a water hazard and some challenging greens. They have recently been doing a lot of renovations which is a plus and they have newer golf carts as well. They also have a taco man that is there on the weekends which is a great snack after the first 9-holes.
Easy beginner course but not maintained
Took my son in law for his 2nd round of golf. Wanted to find a course not busy during holidays so we went out to Colton. Could be a nice beginner course if it was maintained but overall condition was just too disappointing.
Narrow and fun
Course needs some TLC, but is challenging. Great for short game practice. Very friendly folks...
Good pratice course
I live near this course and grew up playing it. it's a good course for beginners or if you want to work on your irons. the course was starting to go down hill, but recently it was bought out by new owners. they fixed all the or most of the tee boxes and greens. they also added to the pratice area, which is nice. over all this is now a nice course to play for the price.
The course was fun,but the fairways were tore up.Lots of mud and dirt everywhere!
I have never played that course. I got out there before day break. The course had fairways that were torn up, plastic water lines everywhere above ground. Mud and dirt all over the place. But I had fun.I would play that course again
Short course, plays fast (at your own pace).
Colton is a decent course. Many par 3's (only 3 par 4's). If you are sharpe on your irons, the greens are reach able from the tee boxes. Fairways are thin, so it's important that you try to reach the green. The tee boxes are in moderate condition, and the greens are in good condition.
Course needs a lot of TLC
There are a lot of little things that would ,ake this course sooooo nice. They appeared to be working on the green as they had been punched and sanded. The T boxes were mostly roped off for reseeding and some to the temporary Ts were simply BAD, Yes it shows they are trying to improve the grass, but what about the kart paths? They have nice newer karts and they are beating them to death on kart paths that you need a 4 wheel drive to travel on. Come on guys pay a little closer attention to ALL the course. This cousre is also shown as a LIGHTED Course, while YES there are lights, they in NO way allow someone to play golf by them. There are so many dark areas we lost three balls on the last two holes as it was just to dark to see them ON the fairways!
Good Par 3 Course
Good practice work for irons and short game. Couple Par 4's that are driveable. Good course overall
Great little "Par 3" course. Has driving range, practice green, chipping area, and a practice sand trap.
Nothing fancy, just a real good place to sharpen up your "Iron game". Reasonably well maintained and easy to walk, if you enjoy walking.
Sloooooooow Play
I've played Colton Golf Course before to practice my Iron game and start my wife playing a short course but I've never had an experience like the last one. Booked an early round in order to get in, play a round and go home. Course was unbelievably stacked. by the time we finished playing #1, #2 had 3 groups stacked in carts one group waiting on the tee, a walking foursome in the fairway waiting for a foursome on the green. # 3 had two groups waiting to tee off. Turned around, went to the office to request a rain check due to overcrowding. Mgmnt finally gave me the rain check, but under much protest. I'm not the one that overbooks a course or fails to put an official of some kind out there to keep the pace and prevent back up so don't get ticked when people complain or never return. Slow play is one thing but a 5-6 hour round on a par 3 course is ridiculous.
Grate fundamentals course
I like playing Cloton GC for the grate fundamentals it teaches. I say its better to walk, riding in a golf cart here is kinda bumpy.
