Great course near my childhood home

Great fun playing this course today, after our first visit last summer. With the recent rain we wondered if the course would be open, thankfully the staff confirmed we were good to go in the morning, and any areas still waterlogged were marked off to help keep you from sinking into the mud. The 16th hole was just as mad (mad as in" tough, but fun" way) as we remember it from last year. Looking forward to our next round already!

Very poor greens

Greens were so heavily sanded it was like putting on a beach. Paid £20 per head for a round which was extremely expensive considering the condition of the greens. Very disappointed

A worthwhile Visit

Played Belshill in August 2017. This is a busy members course, which obviously draws a lot of locals from the town and surrounds.

Course was very playable with a lot of interesting holes, changes in elevation and tree lined fairways.

Trees do create a narrow tee shot on a lot of holes and there are also quite a few doglegs where length off the tee is not necessarily a factor.

At the time of playing, the greens were in great condition. Running true and fast. Hugely impressive and would be very acceptable at more high profile venues.

Course has a few gentle undulations until you get to the 15th! A short par 4 over a dry ditch with a very nice stone bridge - clearly the signature hole with the clubhouse set in the background.

Then 16, plays down a steep gully (or you can potentially take a longer route back up the 15th) to an elevated green. 17 is a par 3 of 165, playing more like 150 downhill which really the only play is to hit a good shot to carry the slope in front of the green (as well as miss the bunkers either side). And then 18 is a testing 310 yard par 4 with dog leg right playing uphill.

The route crosses a railway line a few times so do try and follow a group, or play with a member.

Internal OB on the 4th (and 3rd for big hitters) is a bit of a nuisance.

A good round all in

A quite short course but with a variety of different holes. A lot of walking at times between some greens and next tee due to being in apparently different areas on each side of railway line. Was in good condition and greens reasonably true, thou still a bit sandy in places. Unfortunately struck behind a large sweep which held us up at times but all in all a good day out and possibly worth a return visit

Good course - No trolleys!

From any course above average standards the least you would expect is onsite golf trolleys available to hire. Mines has recently broken and i was intending on hiring one, however I found out to my surprise that there were none on offer. Even on council run courses they have golf trolleys.

Course was in great condition and everything else was as expected. Just bring your own trolley!

One of the best in Lanarkshire

Course was in good condition for the time of the year. Only a couple of winter greens and played of the majority of tee - winter teeing areas at some holes.

Challenging course.

Friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse and good catering facilities available at reasonable prices.

Will certainly come back to play in summer conditions.
