Course Reviews

Course Name The Course At Wente Vinyards
Location Livermore, California, USA
Comments from Rick Quesada, Sacramento, California, USA
A great new course designed by Greg Norman. The shark has done a great job on a course that challenges every aspect of your game. Several interesting Risk/Reward holes. You will undoubtedly score better each time you play it. Outstanding scenery and a fir st class test. Fast greens, rolling hills, great fair- ways. Don't pass up dinner at the adjoining Wente Winery to add to a great day.

The course winds throughout the Wente Vineyards and features several dramatic elevation changes. The first hole has a dramatic 100 foot drop from elevated tee to the fairway below. You will encounter Views of Mt. Diablo, the Vineyards and a 250 foot climb up eight switchbacks to reach the back nine. Fortunately the halfway point features a well equipped Snack Bar.

Balls traveling into the Vineyards may be retrieved but not played from there so bring an extra sleeve. You'll be glad you played The Course and each return visit makes the course a little more playable.

Wow, very nice and challenging. Unless you are a 15 or below handicap I suggest playing from the blue tee's. And even from there the course plays long. We had the privledge of having course designer Greg Norman playing behind us! There is a 12 min delay between tee times, so a 4 1/2 round is the norm, not the exception!
