Machrie Hotel Course, located on Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Laid out by Willie Campbell. Five Open Champions traveled there for first l00 pound competition. Anatural links watered by the Almighty with greens of natural basins and saucer types. Perfect turf and ll blind shots where feeland instinct are needed. 4th hole swings back to Hotel in case a dram is needed to wipe away any double bogie memories. 7thtee faces a huge hillock which leads to the unknown and it is a thrill to clamber over to see ball on the fairway while seeing a beautiful bay in the distance. My favorite is l7 where one must play a cut off the tee over the whins to land in short grass for a challenge of hitting a 7 iron over a 30' dune which must clear a bunker a double dec ker bus could fit into. Not unlike the Alps at Preswick.30 minute ride from Glasgow on Logan Air or 2 hr boat ride from coast. Had 8 distilleries of wonderful single malt which will be needed after a great day. Mechanical golfers will not like it. Shot ma kers will love it.
