Course Name Royal Dornoch Golf Club
Location Dornoch, Scotland
Comments from R. Tom Morris, Palos Verdes, California, USA
Golf played here since l6l6 but present club formed in l877 - course laid out by Old Tom Morris and improved and extended by Sutherland, secretary, to l8 holes. Ranked in the top ten couses in the world. Splender views of the Moray Firth and links golf on ly second to the Old Course. First went there in l976 and can't stay away. Golf at its finest- most famous hole is Foxy, no l4, no bunkers, 445 with green compared to l7 at St Andrews, Best l4th in the world. Home of Donald Ross. Hardest shot on the cours e is at #2, par 3, after missing the green. A Dornoch ale of a few fingers of Glenmorangie will complete a the best day of golf in your life.

The Championship Course at Royal Dornoch is one of the truly great courses in all of Scotland. With beautiful views of the firth, and treacherous holes this is a "don't miss" layout. Our group all agreed it was well worth the trip from the central part of the country. My favorite hole was the 17th. You had a directional post to hit your long iron, or fairway wood at, and then faced a severely sloping fairway with a downhill shot to a large green. Truly, a spectacular sight. In general, the greens were difficult from a short game standpoint, due to the Donald Ross influence. Don't miss Royal Dornoch.

One of the great courses in all of Scotland. The course sits next to the North Sea and offers wonderful vistas and a stern test of golf. Locals love their golf and love to have a cold one after a great round on this great golf course.
