The first course in Europe to be designed by Nick Faldo, it is a very impressive debut. He has drawn on his knowledge of top courses around the world to produce a real masterpiece. On some of the holes one can recognise the influence of famous courses aro und the world he has played. The 17th hole island green of Sawgrass is copied and shades of Augusta National are evident everywhere, paticularly the holes which feature "Faldo's Creek". There are over 164 bunkers including the "Anaconda" on the 5th which stretches for over 200 metres down one side of the fairway across the middle and up the other side to the green. It is also home to a David Leadbetter Acadamy.
