Wonderful views of the town and the harbor. Literally breathtaking course, quite hilly and long.
The course is set on the hillside and quite steep in many places. A ball hit into the hillside didn't roll down though and it was tough trying to hit a ball that seemed at shoulder level!!!.
It had beautful views of the harbor and had sheep on some holes. Had to make sure we closed a gate so they wouldn't get loose. One hole had a really high tee box and the green looked miles away and really had a great drop. Spectacular !!. It's a course that every golfer would like to experience at least once and be able to say they played it. I'm sure you would have a great experience there.
We tried to play the Brandon course in Ashburton but it was closed for some reason. The landscaping at the entrance was beautiful as was the town center park. We fell in love with the town and hoped that eventually we would be able to go back and play the course. We played Russley, Shirley and Otago. Also played Chisholm in Dunedin. It had THE most spectactular scenery of any course we've played. Played Twelve Oaks golf club in Mosquel Saddleback hill can be seen from the course and it was visible to all from there why Capt Cook named it so.
