The Old Works Golf Course is a truly unique golfing experience. It's location and historical experience are extraordinary and the value is unbeatable. It gives the regular person the ability to play on a Nicklaus Signature course at an affordable rate.

Montana's finest. 5 tee boxes on each hole make the course playable for golfers of any ability. Unique in that the bunkers are filled with black slag. Plays like a fine light sand. The rates are extremely affordable for such a first class course. My fa vorite hole is the par 3 7th. Elevated tee gives you a great view of the entire hole. My least favorite is the par 5 11th. A waste bunker lines the entire left side of the fairway and Warm Springs creek runs in front of the green. Best course I've play ed in Montana.

You can ride or walk at the Old Works for not much more than a song. I walked on one weekend afternoon, found a great layout in immaculate condition with fabulous views and a friendly atmosphere. This Nicklaus course with all black sand and super-slick greens is a must-play for any golfer who passes anywhere near it. The Old Works is as good as golf gets.

This course is great to play on, especially with all the people that also play on it. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, espically (Norma Parks, Tina & Joe Strilnik.) They make the course fun and great to play on. Thank you once again for alowing us to play on your course....

Just got back from playing a round at Old Works. The course condition was absolutely superb. As a fairly average player, I was concerned that it would be too hard for me, or that my shot inconsistency would be a serious detriment to my enjoyment. While the course was challenging, it was also very fair. An amazing layout! The staff were helpful, courteous, and genuinely interested in any concerns or questions we may have had. If I have one complaint, it would be that I live too far away to golf it as much as it deserves. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

I like unique courses and Old Works is the most unique I've ever played. This Nicklaus-designed course is located on a former super-fund site in a little old Montana mining town. Black slag is used in the bunkers and traps, there are no sand traps. Slag bunkers actually look like water hazards from a distance as they glisten in the sun and the vegetation around them suggests boggy areas. Course is fun, challenging, very well-maintained, inexpensive and the staff was friendly (Even an old hacker like myself felt comfortable with their attitude and helpfulness). Hole #3 (par 5) is very scenic as it lies below ruins of smelter ovens reminiscent of old Roman ruins. #11 par 5 is a monster for me and shows a bit of a sadistic streak in Nicklaus. Golfing Old Works provided lots of variety and enjoyment.

I loved your course and the and hospitality. The black slag sands and the dark green fairways were the best I have ever played before.
