Everyone I know, that golf's, would almost kill for a pass to get on the course! I have seen many happy faces when it comes to golfing at Bellerive. We hosted the 1965 US Open which was also the first US open televised in color in 1965. The first USGA Mid Amateur in 1981 and the latest, the PGA Championship in 1992 were played here.
I have seen many promising golf pros come from here in my time. The '92 PGA was an awesome event. Not being a golfer, I enjoyed it fully. My father who was 71 at the time and an avid golfer had the opportunity to be a volunteer worker for me. He loved it!! I do know that we are trying to secure another major tournament for the year 2004.
Golf Digest has always named Bellerive as number one in the state and somewhere around 50 to 55 in the country in it's ranking system.
