| This is a gem! Situated in a vulcanic crater next to the relentless surf of the Atlantic Ocean this is a total experience. The fairway or the greens might not be "Augusta-like" but the layout is good and the surroundings are spectacular. Pebble or Scottish links are nothing compared to this! The wind, unforgiving lava formations make up a challenge to any golfer. The 10th hole is not long but a monster anyway. Out OB left, landing area 220 yards out, a small ledge 30 yards in diameter. From there you've got 150 yards uphill, into the wind and anything not on the green is "goodbye"!! Welcome to the Volcano Open played in July. May/01 |
