Glory Years Gone

Used to be one of Calgarys Premier Courses, but there are newer courses in the area that have surpassed it. One really nice thing about Bearspaw though it’s fairly well protected from wind being down in a bowl. The layout is still outstanding and every hole gives you something different, but the management isn’t what it once was.

Beautiful Location for a golf course.

I am sorry I didn't take pictures but that would have been the best part of this review. I golf over 100 rounds a year at many courses but I am a member at 3 courses in Alberta and BC. I think we have some beautiful courses in Calgary but the one thing that spoils that is sitting in two groups on several holes per round for some reason Bears Paw cannot manage their course so people can enjoy a round without waiting on every hole which is very sad because the course is great when you finally get to play it. I hate 5 hour rounds and this was my 3rd one at this course in 3 weeks so I will golf at another one of our beautiful courses in the area as we are fortunate enough to have many.
If you don't mind long rounds and meeting the group in front and behind you play Bearspaw golf club, it is a beautiful course.

DON’T DO IT!!!

Garbage!! Complete garbage, rip off, horrible, horrible .Do not go here . This golf club now needs a complete overhaul. No maintenance experience whatsoever. It is in such disrepair that I believe the land will soon be sold for residential development. It is so sad to see what the windmill group does to the golf courses . Go to the Winston or inglewood gcc. You will triple the experience.

Play at your own risk

Maintainence has been minimal for some time.
My playing partner walked down some old rail tie steps to the 17th green and one step broke apart.
He rolled his ankle badly and we had to end the round.
When we reported the accident to management at the pro shop, nothing was done.
They did not offer to look at his injury nor even offer a bag of ice!
Pathetic response but fits the ownership groups attitude to their clients.
Never again, not worth the risk!

BEAUTIFUL PARKLAND LAYOUT & DESIGN

Previous to June 14 2019 this track had been a private facility, but it went through some financial difficulties and is now run by Windmill Golf Group and is open to the public.

In my opinion it is one of the best designs in the greater Calgary area. Although the conditions weren’t spectacular....... the design is just fantastic and spotty conditions are to be expected due to the financial hardship and transfer of ownership.

But I sure hope this course stays open to the public because the Parkland style and gorgeous site lines from a lot of the tees make it one of my favourite tracks that I have played in the Calgary area and I would love to come back on a regular basis!
