Course Reviews

Course Name Western Gailes
Location Ayrshire, Scotland
Comments from Dave Schmertz, Colleyville, Texas, USA
You've heard of the usual Scottish courses: St. Andrews, Royal Troon, Prestwick, Turnberry, Carnoustie etc. I've played all of those and more and Western Gailes is as good as any of them. It doesn't have the history or the facilities some of the ot hers have but the course itself is fantastic. The best time to play is on Sunday afternoon when it's nearly empty. It's a typical links course with very tight fairways. If you like Scottish golf you'll love this one.

Comments from Dan Wightman, Fresno, California, USA
This rugged, wonderful course is more challenging and memorable than many better know courses in Scotland. This is the course to visit when your game is sharp and your confidence high. Play to your handicap here, and you'll be pleased with your round. Very pleased. E-mail wightman@dwr.water.ca.gov for more information.
