This course has really two different nines. The front nine is an open links course that is subject to a prevailing West wind. Most holes are reachable in regulation but that is where the niceness stops. The designer McBroom Inc. left his trade mark on all greens the perverbial swail that runs through the middle. Unless your approach shot is on the same section as the hole two and three putts are common. The back nine is carved out a mature forest with "Lovers Creek" coming into play on five of the holes. It is reachable on most drives as well. The fifteenth hole invites disaster. This hole has a divided fairway. Do you go over off the tee or play it safe before wedging it in to the narrow side of the green. The interesting challenges await golfers to Nati onal Pines.
