Stratford Country Club

Never played here before and had high expectations for what the cost was to play 18 holes . 66 dollars with a cart after 330 pm.
Very disappointed at the layout and conditions of the course. Hitting through electrial high voltage wires on many holes and zigzagging back and forth across the course to get to holes. Dumb.
No refreshment cart service on the course at all and it was hot. Ridiculous. New policy says to order online, which is a frustrating experience, then they will bring the drinks to your hole. Stupid. Poor employees are not making money this way.
We wont be back and cannot recommend this course to anyone visiting.

Tired would be the best way to describe this club. I am in my 50's now and this facility has changed little since I played it in high school - and that is not a compliment. The clubhouse, change rooms and bar honestly look untouched since the late 1970's.

The golf course itself is ok - call it a 6.5 out of 10 - but certainly has it's quirks. Teeing off on # 1 just 20 ft from the proshop door and the outdoor patio strikes you as odd right off the hop. Like any course there are good holes, bad holes and holes that are utterly forgettable (I'm thinking #10 and #18 specifically). Most of the par 3's are interesting and provide variety in terms of look and length and most of the par 5's offer players that can move it off the tee an opportunity to get home in 2.

But here's the thing: for the money there are LOTS of far better options in the area with Mitchell, Listowel, Rebel Creek and many fabulous values like Tarandowah, Otter Creek and Forest City National within an hours drive. I work in Straford. The club is convenient but I'll play elsewhere.

I enjoyed this course.

SCC is an interesting course with some neat holes. Regular fees are a bit steep and it would be a pretty long walk if you didn't take a cart. The course could be in better shape, decent greens and fairways, but just decent - not great. I've been around in under three hours and over 5 - so i guess it's hit and miss. I'll certainly be there again.

good place to golf...easy to get to, great staff...and a great course. I'd go back!

My wife and I played Stratford Country Club on August 26, 2012. The previous time we played it was between 10 and 15 years ago in their annual matrimonial couples tournament. At that time the course was in much better condition than it was on our most recent visit. The tee block should be the one place where you don't have to worry about your stance and lie. The grass on quite a few of the tee blocks was patchy with uneven footing. Some of the forward tees my wife played from had very little grass on them. We played winter rules on the fairways, and we found the speed of the grees inconsistent.

the greens where in great shape, tee boxes and fairways where in rough shape. fairways just needed to be watered more as there was a lot of brown out areas. was a fairly challeging course, fair value.
