Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville has the unique distinction of being Jack Nicklaus' first solo design. Since opening in 1976, it has become one of Canada's most popular courses and has hosted more than 20 Canadian Opens. This difficult golf course is a formidable test even for professionals and avid golfers. The course garnered worldwide fame when at the 2000 Canadian Open, Tiger Woods made one of the defining shots of his career: a 218-yard 6-iron shot from the right fairway bunker, allowing him to win the tournament by a single stroke. The 11th hole is the course's signature. This long par 4 begins with an intimidating tee shot above the fairway. It's the first of five in a demanding stretch of holes that wind around the valley of the scenic Sixteen Miles Creek. One of these, the 14th, is considered one of the toughest par 4s in PGA Tour history.
