No big deal
I like the course and have played there a # of times. But this late in the season, the golf now deal was no deal as the 16% off didn't include the cart which cost us each an additional $22 and it was cart path only. Due to my bad knee I must use a power cart. I played on a weekday at around 11 am. It was also backed up when we got there. I won't be running back there anytime soon.
Good Course
Overall great course, not long but requires accurate shot making.
We enjoyed our round
This course was a nice challenge. The main one being its narrow layout thru a housing complex. You are seldom aware of the presence of the homes because the tree-lined fairways are well grown and extend the length of most of the fairways - thus one of the challenges. The various hazards are not well marked for newcomers so there were a number of blind shots into water or unplayable terrain.
Still the course offers a variety of terrain and is very well maintained.
There is no driving range.
great value!
Very nice course. The houses are a little close to some of the fairways and holes on this course however. There are a few par 4s which you are not allowed to hit driver on. Other than that its well maintained and a good test.
Nicely laid out Course
Hadn't played here for a while.
Fairways/greens are in good shape.
Course wines itself through a lot of houses,
requiring precise shot making on some holes.
Highland Gate
Got this one on a GolfNow deal, so we were all happy with the price, which included carts. The course itself was in beautiful condition, we had great weather, and it wasn't very busy the day we went. The only downside was that some of the fairways have houses on both sides, so you have to be careful with your long clubs. Other than that, a great day was had by all.
Narrow
The pace was very slow. Very narrow and winding greens. And tee boxes to close to pin. Also a lot of homes very close.
Great course
Plays just over 5700 yrds, on a couple holes they don't allow you to use your driver. Other than that great conditioned course . Pretty narrow need to be fairly straight
Accurate tee shots
Narrow fairways require accurate tee shots down the middle. Houses are near each fairway -hit a few balls there. Very challenging but price was right so can't go wrong here. Greens were actually in very good conditions -very spongy. Halfway house was closed.
Great course, but some quirks
Played this course on a day when the weather forecast called for thunderstorms. So the course was empty. Luckily the reports were wrong and we got to enjoy an empty course on a beautifully sunny day. So I can't say much in terms of pace of play because there was nobody in front of us.
The course itself was in good shape.
I used to play competitive golf, NCAA, and know that course rating should indicate how tough the course is. Not sure why this course is only a 66. From the back Tees it is significantly harder. The course is short, but lots of blind tee shots and sharp doglegs make hitting a driver a risky option on many longer holes. There are also many rivers running through the fairways 275-300 yards from the tees making the driver one of the least used clubs in my bag. Gave my 3-wood a good workout though.
Overall the course provided a challenging round but allowed for a rewarding score for those who can make a few decent shots when needed.
The morning was wet so the greens played slow and I can't comment much on their speed.
my only issue with the day was that as we made the turn we found out that the halfway house was closed. Everybody in my foursome was really hoping for some food. Tried calling the clubhouse to see if there was somebody coming around in the beverage cart but we were told that nonobody was going around because the ccourse was too empty. Meant we all went pretty thirsty and hungry for the round.
Nice course for the value and it's close to the GTA.
Good Value
Always has been a challenge - must hit the ball straight - not much room for error.
Beautiful Semi Private Course
It's a clublink course so it's very well maintained. Course is in a residential area so practically every hole is flanked by houses. You're not allowed to play driver on holes 2 and 3 (probably because too many people try to drive the green and end up slicing it into the houses).
First time playing this course; was a bit confusing regarding where to park. You have to park across the street behind some condo.
Staff was pretty friendly/helpful except for the marshall. The scorecard has a recommended time it should take. On number 9 we were literally 4 min behind the recommended pace and they came around to tell us we were playing too slow. There was no one behind us (we sat on the patio after our round and saw no one come off 18 in the hour after us). That really irked me because there was absolutely no reason for that. If there were people waiting behind us I could understand him trying to keep things moving.
sorry about your roof
great challenging course that was in great shape. Only complaint is that the amount of houses close to the course really took away from an otherwise great course. It is really unfortunate that the course sold so much land that is so close to the course. An extra ten feet where each lot is situated would have made this course so much better.
Great course
Very nice course, and in great condition.
The course is very narrow so if you are a big hitter but lack control it is going to be a long round.
In fact if you hit a lot of slices or hooks it is most likely going to be a long round.
The fairways and greens are very nice, the rough is thick and can be difficult to hit from (as it should be).
It is a shot makers course, recovering from a bad shot is hard, a miss hit almost always ends up with a high score.
This course is very challenging.
Don't be mislead by the short yardage, from the blue tees this course even though short all 18-holes are very challenging. Houses line most of the fairways which makes missed fairways very penal. Be careful of some of the blind shots, some of the short par fours have hidden water hazards, what appears to be a great shot of the tee could end up in the water.
Greens were in great shape however numerous sand traps were close to unplayable however I feel this was more due to a severe rain storm a few days prior to our playing than it was to actual course maintenance.
We were very impressed with the friendly staff, we were tight for our tee time and they delivered our lunch to us on the course.
I would definitely play this course again
always a challenge
Have enjoyed this track for years. Greens some of the fastest have seen in Ontario. When you make double (or more) take a look back from the green and enjoy the view, and vow revenge the next time
not a great course
uncomfortably narrow, many holes couldn't use driver, not up to Club Link standards, got a cart with a container for sand, but no sand it it, not planning to go back there
Course in great shape
Based on the course conditions at some other GTA golf courses I've played so far this season, I was pleasantly surprised by the great shape this course was in.
This is a tight course with little margin for error, so if you are spraying your tee shots you will be in trouble. In spite of it's seemingly short length, it is a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
