Taking its name from the majestic birds that can frequently be seen flying overhead, Eaglecrest is rich in history, dating back to the 1920’s when it was developed from a large estate. A royal visit by then Princess Elizabeth in 1951 is a highlight of its storied past. Several of the original buildings from the estate are protected and are still in use today.

Possessing a variety of challenges over its eighteen fairways, the first three holes are fairly open and introduce you gently to this lush, park-like course. Difficulty arises quickly from the fourth tee box, where a rather narrow landing area awaits big hitters, with water on the left and out of bounds on the right. Laying up with a long iron is the sensible play here. The middle holes wind through fir and cedar-lined fairways, with a variety of doglegs and ponds to keep you focused. The par five fourteenth at 509 yards from the whites is a challenge not to be taken lightly. Lined by lakes on both sides, with a huge pot bunker guarding the green, you’ll do well to make par here. The 403-yard seventeenth is also a test with its undulating fairways and slippery four-tiered green.

After your round, be sure to visit the historic clubhouse, 9,000 square feet and built from hand-hewn logs. Our aim at Eaglecrest is to provide excellent value at reasonable prices in an outstanding setting. Whether planning a dinner out, a banquet, or a golf game, we are sure you will enjoy your visit to Eaglecrest Golf Club.

Declining

Talked to a few locals and after going from a 18 to 9 hole course this is in rapid decline. The layout is good but it could be maintained much better. Some tee boxes were in terrible condition. Pro shop staff employee that I a talked to wasn’t very friendly and kind of defensive when I asked him about it going from a 18 to 9 hole course.
If you want as 9 hole course that is in great shape you are much better off going to Qualicum Beach Memorial.

Sad, Overpriced

This course has gone from a fairly enjoyable 18 hole layout, to an overpriced, and not so enjoyable 9 hole track. It is a shadow of its former self. The price my wife and I paid for 9 holes with cart, even with the Lung Book was $115, which is absurd for this course! All I can say is we will not be back.

Fool me once......

This was our second time playing at Eaglecrest, and the first since they shortened up to a 9 hole course. We booked for 18 with two carts for our foursome. When we arrived we were told that the discount in the BC Lung Association golf discount book were not being honored, so instead of 2 for 1, we all had to pay full green fees. We were given some dismissive answer about the change in green fees now that it's 9 holes and the computer not allowing the discount. Whatever, we wanted to golf and it was too late to get a tee time elsewhere. A few of the holes I enjoyed the most have been removed, but it was nice to be able to play the downhill former hole 18 twice. Having finished quite quickly, we went in to inquire about a 3rd 9. The lady said she didn't think it would be the problem, and that usually they just let people go again for free. She went to check with her boss(?) who then promptly told us it would be $31.50 each to go again. Now, I never expect to be allowed to play more for free, but after not honouring the BC Lung Association book, we all felt they had already taken enough, if not too much, of our money. Out of our foursome, we all agreed, we will never go back. Also, if you reference, my previous review, I said I'd never go back unless I had a discount, which I thought I did, which was the only reason I went back. Fool me twice......

Eaglecrest

We booked on golf now. We paid 50.00 Canadian for the two of us to golf, including cart. However when we got there the gentleman told us they do not support golf now and they will not be honouring the cart. He told us they have tried to remove the course from golf now for quite some time but to no avail. Anyways I was not going to argue with them......not worth the effort. The course was empty and my husband and I enjoyed our game . We have been to other courses in the area and they are all busy. I think if they were more pleasant and honoured what you paid for the course would be full .......We highly doubt that we will go back......

Golf Now

I was informed by the staff that Golf Now was not authorized to sell tee times AT ALL. The course honoured the purchase but made it clear that I would be disqualified from any future purchase attempts. Of course, I will not. This is clearly misrepresentation on behalf of Golf Now. I was very disappointed and frustrated as not my fault. What gives?

Problem Child

Arrived at course 20 min to tee time was informed "golf now has no authorization to sell tee times" not the friendliest encounter, however they did let me play and was told "this is the only time" Did not honor the cart portion of the reservation, was forced to walk with a bad taste in my mouth for a slow 18 holes behind a foursome. No Marshall's present, course conditions so so, but it's winter golf. Course is tight and winds through a cookie cutter neighborhood, for an advertised "championship course" you'll be disappointed!

Our tee time was not honored!!!

We arrived & were told that Golfnow was selling the 11 am tee time without their authorization!!! Our tee time was not honored. We also had a tee time booked for Sat. Nov. 7 which we were told would not be honored. I came home & cancelled our reservations. Golfnow gave me a credit for my bookings but not a refund! I had cancelled two bookings last week because we had a family emergency to attend to. Had we gone to the golf course we would have been informed of the situation and would not have been left with credits in our account. Hopefully with winter pending we will be able to use the credits in the allotted time period. Definitely not pleased with this!!!

Mediocre

I can understand having an odd course layout due to being in the middle of a suburb, however, I'd expect at least some protection with trees or a bit of space. My miss hit is a banana peel right. I kept my driver in the bag most of the round due to fear of smashing a window or worse, sliding glass patio door. My playing partner put a ball between a house and workshop where it ricocheted between the two uncountable times before we drove up to survey the damage. Luckily no damage but it puts an element of stress into a game I play to relax. We called around 11 to see if we could get an afternoon tee time with a cart. We were told we could have a cart if we could get there by noon. It's a 45 minute drive and we made it with one minute to spare. Considering we were the only ones on the course, I think he just wanted to leave early. As it was February, it was soggy in places but certainly playable. I'm not sure I would pay full price to play there in the dry season. In fact, I'm not sure I'd play there again period. Maybe if I had a 2 for 1 coupon.

Awesome greens, lots of houses

This golf course features the best greens in the mid-Island area. True and fast! A very pretty setting that is stretched out, around and through many different golf course neighbourhoods. Bad slices and pulls can impact houses, patio furniture, etc.

If you're able to keep your shots under decent control for the most part, there's little to fear.

Interestingly, because of the layout, a 9 hole round is actually 13 holes! Twilight rounds here are superb, especially if you find yourself coming down the 18th fairway about 30 - 60 minutes before sundown. The distant views are stellar. :)
