Pretension and Apathy

Upon arriving for our noon-ish tee time we were informed there were no carts left, even though I had confirmed two carts. He then explained that carts are on a first come first served basis. I explained that I have a medical reason for wanting a cart but was told that my best option was to buy a cart as they have lots of storage available. We ended up walking the 18, which as it is a hilly course, I paid for the next few days. The course is decent, if a little short. Another major complaint from not just myself, but my brother who used to consider it his favourite course, and one of my playing partners, who is now a former member, is that they cut down an iconic tree on one of the later holes(17?). It was the only thing that gave that hole personality. I will say, hole 18 is fantastic, unique and a great finishing hole. They have a great rate for a junior membership which is why my playing partner had been taking us there, to see if the other 3 in the group wanted to join. Each time I went, I felt as though I was interrupting the man in the Pro Shop from something more important when I tried to give him my hard earned money. If it wasn't for the discounts in the BC Lung Association golf discount book, I'd probably never go back.

Different Course in frost

I've played this course in the past and this is the first time I have played this course under a frost warning. The first 6 holes had temporary greens. Thankfully the greens staff caught up to us on the 7th hole and asked us if we wanted to wait for the set up of the 7th green to playable status. It was a bit of a disappointing and surprising start but things warmed up for the rest of the round and we did not encounter another temporary green. We were still thankful to be able to golf in half decent weather in October.

October Golf

This is an old style course I enjoy for the trees and greenery. The fairways had just been sanded so the price was reduced but conditions were still pretty decent. The was a slight breeze but very easy to play with. I look forward to another round here.

Venerable Old Course

This course is a semi private old style layout that has a variety of holes with a number of challenges. There is a creek that meanders through holes 2,4,5 and 6 where you must make a decision to go for it or lay up. The course has majestic Douglas fir trees as well as many Sequoias and a variety of deciduous trees. The set up of the holes present a good variety of tee shots. The finishing par 4 18th is the number 2 handicap hole and both your tee shot and your second shot demand accuracy and distance control in order to have any chance of making a par. I look forward to another visit next spring.

Nicely groomed

This course was in very good shape considering the little amounts of rain we have gotten. Not a huge fan of the layout of this course but it is still fun to play and was in great shape.
