Pheasantback GC

Opened in 1995, this Bill Robinson design is found just a short drive north of Stettler.

Pheasantback is an 18 hole, par 71 course which plays to a maximum of 6186 yards from the tips. There is a nice mix of short and long holes that call for accuracy and consistency off the tee as water hazards come into play on more than half the holes.

The 427 yard, par 4, 16th hole is memorable. It requires an accurate but blind drive over the crest of a hill leaving the golfer with a downhill approach shot that will need to carry the water hazard fronting the green. It's stroke index 2 on the scorecard for a reason and I was more than happy to get up & down for par.

The fairway grass was a bit long but I'm pretty sure the wet weather and overcast skies of the past few days made it hard for the grounds crew to keep up. The greens are of a generous size are were receptive to well struck approach shots. Putts rolled a bit on the slower side but were consistent throughout the course. Bunkers were raked and the two I found played predictability.

After your round is over, the restaurant has a varied menu to satisfy your refreshment needs in the clubhouse or out on the deck overlooking the course.
