Picture Butte Golf Club - Heritage/Homestead Course
About
Located just north of Lethbridge, Picture Butte Golf Club sits on top of a coulee, providing views that span across the surrounding mountains. Since opening in 1945, the club has hosted a variety of tournaments including the Canadian Senior Match Play Championship in 2006. It has become one of southern Alberta's most popular golfing destinations. The entire golf course is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Heritage/Homestead course has a large lake right in the center that comes into play on both the front and back. This combination is the longest of the three. The holes are mostly straightforward except for the menacing fifth hole on the Homestead nine. This par 4 sharply wraps around the lake, requiring a tough carry over water.

STAFF NOT FRIENDLY
Pro shop worker absolutely miserable and to be honest wrecker our groups round. Good course and fun to play for the most part. Would much rather play a different course as don’t want to see the worker again!
Value, Value, Value
Friendly staff and local golfers. Green fees included range balls and taxes! Greens relatively fast, fairways wide on most holes, rough thick but not too punitive. Several risk reward holes. Overall the course is a B+ but you may be hard pressed to find a better value in the Lethbridge area.
Nice Course
Fast Greens, moderate bunker condition. Love the trees on the Heritage & Homestead with great manicured fairways.
Play was a little slow as we were booked at the tail end of a tournament.
Not so good
Rather expensive course with a slow pace of play. Layout is interesting, some up and down holes, and a couple of target ones. Clubhouse is showing its ware, and little choice of menu. Staff were clueless, and totally unfriendly. Shame, as I really wanted to like the place.
A good day on course
Well kept coure, long par four's. Would be nice to have a forth tee box
Great gold
I had a super time, we played as 3. Fast play we kept up to the 2some in front of us. We had a 2some behind us and they kept up until our second nine we pulled away from them.
Good round
First time on the course. The course layout and overal condition was quite good, however a few of the greens were rough and bare in spots. There has been some ...interesting weather in the area recently which may have contributed to this. Had a fun and enjoyable round. The staff at the pro shop was slightly confrtontational when checking in. Good value!
Lots of variety.
Always enjoy Picture Butte coarse. Lots of different challenges for for every level.
Course is in Great shape
This is not the first time I've played this course but it was probably in the best shape I've seen it this time. The course is moderately challenging with lots of trees if you miss the wide fairways. Water comes into play on more than a few holes where accuracy trumps length. Greens where excellent even on the Monday of a long weekend. Overall very enjoyable course to play, my only complaint is the tree on the first hole that is right in the middle of the fairway making for a very difficult third shot on the par 5. It wouldn't be so bad if it came later in the order but as it stands I usually walk away with a bogie to start my round :(
