With the Canadian Rockies serving as the backdrop, the two 18-hole layouts at Kananaskis Country Golf Course are equipped with a rugged natural terrain and amazing views. Golfers can also expect to be joined by a variety of wildlife during their round. Robert Trent Jones designed both courses. The Mount Kidd Course is situated at the base of its namesake mountain, which soars over 10,000 feet above sea level. Unlike the other golf course at the facility, Mount Lorette, where water plays a major role, this course is dominated by sand. The plentiful silica sand bunkers present a formidable challenge for even the most skilled golfers at Kananaskis.

Beautiful setting

Played here for round 1 of our guy's trip to 4 of the best courses in the Rockies. Had a fabulous sunny day buy unfortunately the wind was howling! Like 2 or 3 club howling. But the course was in fantastic shape. Never get tired of hitting drives that climb up that huge mountain. Greens were super fast and in great shape. Had a ball just a shame about the wind.

The Ultimate Par 3

I first laid eyes on the Mt Kidd course in 2017 during the restoration from the terrible flood of 2013. From that moment, I knew I had to play this course at least once in my lifetime.
I returned to Canada to play Mt Kidd in 2022 and it lived up to all my expectations and then some.
The setting for these two great courses in Kananaskis just can’t be beat. The grandeur and imposing presence of Mt Kidd really takes your breath away. The combination of crystalline running streams and the pristine mountain vistas, creates the idyllic setting for a round of golf.
Kidd was in fantastic condition from tee to green. A challenging but fair course with plenty of space off the tee. Hole 4 was the greatest par 3 I have ever played and probably ever will. It was totally amazing!
Hole 16 was another ripper Par 3 with stunning views.
This course contains many other magnificent golf holes with a great variety of both short and long par 4’s and a fantastic long par 5 closing hole.
The facilities here are first class, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and that clubhouse patio…the very best I experienced from the ten courses I played whilst in Canada.
If you want a golfing experience that fulfils your golfing desires, captures your heart and leaves a lasting impression, then Kananaskis is that special place.

CANT BEAT THE SCENERY!

The Kidd course was in fantastic shape from tee to fairway and every bunker was immaculate!.....probably the best bunkers I have ever seen or played our of......the views from every hole are just amazing and the RTJ course design was surprisingly fair.

I thought the design was going to be a bit tougher but it was a very playable course from the tips.

The only small gripe I have is with the greens......some had recently been punched and top dressed which was fine.......but there were far to many pocks and signs of poor maintenance from previous ball marks etc......they definitely affected the roll and line on puts. Could use some extra attention from a maintenance staff that definitely knows what their doing!

If you are in the area it’s a must play

Kananaskis mountain view

This is a well designed course after the flood. A mountain valley course with probably the best continuous mountain views in the Canmore area. Worth the trip, but watch for radar.

Played 36 at Mt. Kidd

I'll give the course a 9 out of 10. The only reason it's not a 10 is because the greens were a little shaggy, and there were still tiny holes in the greens from a recent aerification. Also, there are no beverage carts on the course. Mountain views are incredibly amazing!! Pro shop staff, bag drop & valet staff, and snack shack staff were all top notch. I'd definitely play here again.

A triumphant return for Kananaskis

The 2013 flood that closed the 36-hole Kananaskis Country for five years seemed like a distant memory the day I played 36 holes at Kananaskis. Both courses looked great, even in a steady rain. Architect Gary Browning did a fine job reviving the original holes and fortifying the riverbanks from future flooding.
Mount Kidd might have the two best holes on property - the par-3 fourth over the river and the risk-reward short par-4 fifth bordering the river - even though I slightly favor Mount Lorette overall.
They're both similar in feel and beauty. During my rounds, a bear appeared on Mount Kidd and a wolf on Mount Lorette, proving how rugged this wildness really is.
Playing here is almost half the cost of Stewart Creek and Banff Springs - plus slightly closer to Calgary - so they're a great re-addition to the Canadian Rockies.

Exceptional Beauty

This is a beautiful course at a great value. The restorations after the devastating floods returned it to one of Alberta’s jewels!

Great layout is fun for all levels and as a lady, I appreciate the forward tees are well thought out wth options for all handicaps.
