Great Layout - Good Shape
Played around 8am on Sunday. Staff friendly and welcoming. Course is in great shape except for about 1/3 of the tee boxes. Need work. Major grass loss and several divots. Greens excellent shape. Fairways and bunkers excellent! Would highly recommend this course.
Rosedale Golf & Country Cluba
A very good track. The greens are in excellent condition. The have some speed and slope, which makes them fun to play. The fairways are in good condition. The course has more than a few hazards, but will be a fun round for single digit or high handicappers. Rosedale has tees for players of all age and skill level. Good staff! I recommend this club.
Good course, too narrow
I’ve played here many times over the years. First time in 2 years. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Course is in good shape. A few of the tee boxes are starting to get some bare spots and a few of the greens are getting some bit of disease or something. Still good shape overall. The greens did not roll very true. Maybe the grain was extreme but I rolled several good putts the broke a lot more than they should have. Even straight putts did not hold their line well. The problem with Rosedale is it’s a narrow, old man’s course and not a lot of fun to play sometimes. The first 2 par 5’s are maybe 40 yards wide with water left and trees + OB right. If you enjoy hitting 5 woods off the tees on par 5’s you will love it. Many other narrow drives as well. I know, quit crying and play what the course requires but you can hit a great ball and get penalized. It’s also too short for the modern game. On hole 10 I hit a great drive right of the 150 marker and drive up and it’s in the lake on the left that comes out a little in the fairway. Seriously? If you hit the ball over 230 around there it’ can get you in trouble. It’s not mobbed like most courses so it is good for dropping some balls and getting some on-course practice in. Won’t be in my regular rotation though.
Always a Great and Challenging Course
Love playing here. In spite of the distances based on your tee box, PLAY THE APPROPRIATE ONE THAT YOU ALWAYS PLAY….. Course layout is challenging, but fun.
Still my Favorite
Simply The Best conditions around from tee to green. There are 1 or 2 Tee boxes that are starting to thin out with the overseeded rye starting to burn out, but other than that....impeccable shape. Greens still fast & true, nice & soft to hold approach shots, great sand in bunkers, fairways perfect length....nice & lush. One of the few courses around where they let the fairways grow long enough you can get a Lob wedge underneath. And as always, beautifully landscaped property& super friendly staff. Nice range & practice area as well. Just wish it didn't get so expensive during season, but always try to get a couple rounds in early in the fall, or late in the spring, when the prices are affordable for us "locals".
Great experience
I’ve only played ten or so courses in the Sarasota area but this one is FAR better than the others. Cost was reasonable and the conditions were great for this time of year.
Course was in great shape, staff was friendly, professional. Course continues to be very challenging for me. Tight fairways, lots of water
Golf at rosedale
Course tee, fairway and rough areas were poor. Hit off of a lot of dirt and scrub. Greens were good. Waited most holes most of the day. Not worth the 180 we paid for the 2 of us to play. Not recommended until they get the course in shape.
A fine golf course
Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Except from the machine at the clubhouse, the bar, or the cart young woman. I was really speaking about the ponds that dominate the landscape. A difficult course due to the water, narrow fairways and strategically-placed bunkers. The course is immaculately groomed, real sand is found in the bunkers, and there are tees for every level of player. The only hiccough was the shortage of carts, requiring us to wait at the cart staging area for close to 15 minutes before we were assigned one. We were assured this was an anomaly and our experience in the times we have golfed here concurred.
