Baja Country Club is very much in a state of transition. Players still come, and they are a mix of Ensenada residents, a handful of folks from Tijuana, and an adventurous batch of Southern California road trippers. However, with real estate prices on the rise, Baja is starting a plan to build new houses near the course and add several amenities. Most importantly, though, they're aggressively bringing the golf course back to life.

With three distinctive nine-hole runs, the Bajamar Golf Resort offers an entertaining day playing golf with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. While they try and downplay the course's reputation as "Mexico's Pebble Beach," the experience will remind you of the historic course, but the green fees probably won't. Despite some minor imperfections with course conditioning, Bajamar delivers an interesting and adventurous round that you can think about when you're enjoying that post-golf margarita.

The new Dunes nine at Moon Palace Golf Club in Cancun is a Ferrari hidden in the back corner of a parking lot full of GEOs. It is so far superior to its Lake and Jungle neighbors at this Jack Nicklaus 27-hole facility that it's almost like coming across an alien.
