The First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu overcame improbable odds in 2006 to become the only church in the world to own a golf course on site: Ko'olau Golf Club. Built for $82 million, Ko'olau sits on heavenly land roughly 45 minutes from downtown Honolulu. The course was carved from a tropical rain forest designated as a nature conservancy in the shadow of the Ko'olau Mountains.

And the club's member-for-a-day green fee beckons the Hawaiian golf traveler, Brandon Tucker writes.

While lower handicaps can still get their fix of good hole variety and some tough shots, the Kai is meant to be enjoyed by those who don't want big numbers to ruin their day in paradise. The Kai is every bit as scenic as the Royal but presents some unique characteristics, like the Sugar Cane Train tracks.
