The hills are alive with the sound of wind/sheep and oh yes Golf!
A links type course in the middle of Shropshire. Short - round about 5000 yds but tough because your not just playing the game of golf but all the other elements like wind/hills/small tough greens/ tough lies/bracken and as a first time player lots of blind shots. It's an experience put it that way but as bones once said it's golf Jim but not as we know it. Will try again at some point.
Little Gem
Wow from start to finish the day out here makes you go wow!!
The course is a tough walk so would recommend a buggy,
Greens are firm and links like but very true.
It looks on paper a very short course but it’s a “thinkers” course. If your off line good luck lol
Sheep on the course makes you smile.
Pro was best I have met for explaining and welcoming.
Food is stunning homely food and you need it when you have played this course, great value!!
Stunning views and a challenging but rewarding course
Fantastic to return to a course I have so many fond memories of. I was a member back in the late 80’s 90’s and thoroughly enjoyed the round. Course remains a challenging adventure, testing every shot, particularly on a day with strong gusts of wind and the occasional heavy shower. However, the greens run true, trees planted when I was a member are maturing well and overall the course is looking and playing great. The views are absolutely stunning - I forgot how much I missed them. I will be back soon.
Some blind holes
Great condition. A tricky course - the first is an extremely long par 3 up a hill! Several blind shots - you’ll enjoy it more the second tome.
Some fantastic views of the Shropshire hills and surrounds.
Wonderful course
Fabulous challenging course for the distance . Great condition Awesome scenery. This is real golf. Wind is a major factor.. From using a driver on a 170 yard par 3 and being 20 yards short to driving over the green on a 310 yard par 4. Recommend using a buggy even though we were the only one's using them today. Fair play to those walking. The Welshpool of England. Definitely will be back.
An excellent challenge!
First time here and it was a really enjoyable challenge, made you really think of club selection for each shot due to elevation changes and wind direction. Fairways and Green in very good condition, those sheep keep the grass at the perfect length! Will definitely come back again!
Quirky and Quality
What an experience! Quirky, fun, testing, quality greens, interesting holes, not many trees! Fantastic views. Can't fault the day at all!
What a Great Course
Stunning views, quite a work out first 4 holes but lovely. We play at least a couple of times a year as it’s fairly local and would recommended to anyone who loves hill golf.
Weather
Considering the weather over the past weeks with other courses locally a mess this course is in great condition .
Great Course
Best winter course I’ve played, always stays pretty dry.
C,s
Lovely course, greens were a little slow but they been top dressed.
It was nice to walk off clean and not covered in mud!!
The views are unbelievable and the wild horses were lovely to see.
A fabulous course but not an easy walk!!
Challenging hilly course with stunning views of Shropshire.
This was my first outing at Church Stretton Golf Course, however, I will definitely go there again. It was a bit wet & cold up there in the Gods as we say! The course was in very good condition, however, the greens were a little inconsistent. The views are amazing & the course provides a very good challenge to any golfer.
Superb condition
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Due to being October I began in mist but the sun soon shone. The views are incredible! The course, despite being shorter than most, is extremely challenging & the greens can be tricky. Thanks to all staff for putting on a great course. It's my second visit. I will return
Think your way around
The short nature of this course is somewhat misleading with a number of challenging par 3s and with the wind blowing, considerably lengthened or 4s.
We had a great welcome with plenty of instruction given as to the interesting layout. Some of the greens did suffer from the open nature of the pastureland.
Having options to hit the ball low was a must in the day we played and the calves saw plenty of wear tackling the terrain. A real test that I would love to return to in the not too distant future.
Thanks for a great day out.
Great track
Moorland course which presents so very tricky holes. Very good price. The off-course amenities were a proshop and a bar/restaurant, both were closed when I arrived at 10am, but the proshop was open when I finished. I’ll be playing again.
Walm Welcome
Very welcoming, friendly and informative staff.
Testing course especially with a few gusts of wind.
Hill Top Heaven
A superb course with some very testing holes, (3Rd is a gem!) the views of the Shropshire countryside are breathtaking and the course itself very well laid out although some of the inclines between holes are very steep. Can’t recommend this golf course highly enough.
