The Blue Shark Golf Club could be known as Blue Easy. Norman certainly never forgot he was designing a resort course when he remolded an old Joe Lee design into a largely different longer course with its own quirks and personality.

Roger Rulewich will be performing some much-needed remodeling of the
Half
Moon Golf Course, designed by his mentor Robert Trent Jones Sr. and
opened
in 1961. It's hard to argue with Half Moon's reputation as one of the
most
complete resorts in the Caribbean, but time has dulled some of it
appeal.
The changes won't turn
Half Moon into a
White Witch or
Cinnamon Hill, but Rulewich says he can add some appeal and make it
a
lot more playable.

Many new courses have appeared in the Caribbean since the Tryall Club track was built in the 1960s, but the Ralph Plummer design has kept pace with the competition. Today there are many rivals for the title of best golf course in the Caribbean, many of them fresh off the drawing board and built using the latest technology. El Conquistador is a challenging design that requires patience and smarts. Middle and low handicappers will enjoy the layout, but it will overwhelm the high handicap player. The views, however, might be worth the frustration. The best perch on the course -- and perhaps any course in Puerto Rico -- is on the 15th hole. The tee box is 200 feet above the fairway and overlooks the coastline.
