Unfortunately, Alex is one of many making racist comments on Travel Golf blogs. I can even think of bloggers who write racist posts and comments regularly. But you're right, racists rarely know that they are racist. I confronted one, but all she could do was tell me her handicap and ask me where I went to college.

The funny thing about these Travel Golf blogs is if you were to do a Google News Search on Michelle Wie , the first 7 hits would be from Travel Golf. She hasn't done anything in weeks, yet Travel Golf still gets hits off her. It's unbelievable.

If you are the same "grikdog" that took Michael "the Book" Bamberger to task last fall, then I have great respect for your views.

That said, I would disagree with you on your characterization of wkw's column as being "tragic". "Misguided" comes to mind. Bearing the fruits of the "Law of Unintended Consequences" also comes to mind. "Tragic" seems to denote a level of gravitas simply "not achieved" in Wolfrum's attempted burlesque.

I will say that Wolfrum's piece contained journalistic balance seldom seen in these golf blogs. But his vetting of a key figure left much to be desired.

I'm trying to recall if I lost any sleep over it. OK, now I'm certain - Nope, not even a millisecond. And, the piece has brought much needed attention to the problem of Astroturf throughout the blogging community in general, and this set of golf blogs in particular.

Since you don't know either party perhaps you should take your own advice and opt out of this discussion - you seem to be reviving a topic that had died down.

But, now that you bring it up, I don't mind continuing it. Alex has made frequent comments that seem racist to me and to others. I could list many more of his offensive remarks, if you like. If my comments put a "chill" on racist comments, then fine and dandy. I'm not in a position to censor anyone, but it is a free country, and I'll answer whom I please, when I please. Hope that is clear.

You seem like a thoughtful person, I'm surprised you wouldn't take a stand against racial slurs - whether they are "jokes", or erstwhile "compliments", or however they happen to be disguised.

For someone who "doesn't know Alex", you seem to have taken quite an interest in his welfare. Perhaps you are long-lost twins. You know, something like that.

Ghet Rheel, I guess you don't want to take my advice to relax. I can't figure out how you think my thoughts are a carbon copy of anything. I don't know Alex but I am pretty sure he is just busting your chops. Let him say his piece, that's what makes these blogs entertaining. Don't try to censor anybody. You wouldn't want to be censored for your views. Don't you realize that he is enjoying your frustration?
