It was 18 months ago that I spoke to long-time friends and filmmakers Christopher Vitiello and Jonathan Ochoa about their work on a documentary on Lorena Ochoa, the world’s No. 1 female golfer. This month, their work has come to life as Fox Sports Espanol has already televised Part 1 of their documentary, with Part 2 set to air on Sunday. For those looking to see the documentary in its entirety, it will air in full on Dec. 22 on Fox Sports Espanol at 9 p.m.
The two filmmakers have been on a two-year-plus adventure that started in early 2007. With Jonathan Ochoa being a cousin of Lorena, the two started their journey with the idea of looking at what it took Lorena Ochoa to get to the top of her game. Along the way, they saw that the Mexican golf sensation was so much more than just her outstanding game, as they chronicled her charitable works in Mexico, her amazing popularity in Latin America, and her dedication to family and friends.
Lorena Ochoa is the perfect example of how to be a champion. She is talented, hard-working and giving. Jonathan Ochoa and Vitiello were given outstanding access, and they worked tirelessly to put this top-notch documentary together.
