Bernie Mac left his mark as a golfer - on the back of Samuel Jackson's skull

On August 8, the comedy world lost a unique talent when comedian and actor Bernie Mac died from complications from pneumonia. Mac was one-of-a-kind, and whether you were a fan or not, it was sad to see him go at the young age of 50.

And while Mac left his mark on comedy and in films such as Ocean’s 11, he also left his mark on the golf course - notably, leaving a good-sized dent on the back of Samuel Jackson’s head during a round the two played together in Illinois. We’ll let Jackson explain, courtesy of ContactMusic.com:

“Bernie was the only guy to hit me with a golf ball. We were playing golf in Chicago … and Bernie drove his ball and I drove my ball about 20 yards further than his and I just kept going down the fairway and, as I was walking, it felt like somebody had shot me in the back.

“Bernie had hit a three wood, shanked it and just drilled me right in the back… and didn’t apologize. He was like, ‘You shouldn’t have been in the way - it would have been a good shot.’”

There’s a lot of good things to remember about Bernie Mac, and the fact that he could drill a golf ball off the back of Samuel Jackson’s head and then blame Jackson for ruining his shot ranks right up there, at least for golfers.
