Gary Player is fond of speaking his mind, which makes the world in general pretty fond of Gary Player. Player’s latest proclamation? Tiger Woods could have the U.S. Presidency some day if he wanted it:
Speaking at the launch of the Gary Player Invitational, here’s what the legendary South African had to say:
“Here is a great role model,” Player said of Woods. “He is highly educated, well read, well dressed and beautifully spoken.
“Mark my words, Tiger could one day run for president if he wanted to. He is the most well-known athlete in the world and by the time his career is over he’ll be one of the most recognisable men on Earth.
“If Ronald Reagan could become president then so could Tiger.
“It’s not far-fetched. If he ever decides to go into politics he’ll have had much more experience in life and seen infinitely more of the world than Mrs Palin [US vice-presidential candidate] ever has.”
And while it seems like Player couldn’t resist taking a jab at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, I think the great Player is missing the boat on this one - A Tiger-Barracuda ticket could possible win 100 percent of the vote if they chose to make a run for President together. If they could get Greg Norman into the mix they’d have a Tiger-Barracuda-Shark triumvirate that could control the entire world, actually.
