Vijay Singh makes a liar of Chris Baldwin

Tuesday September 2, 2008 | 10:23:27 am 130 words, 8806 views

Golf writing megastar Chris Baldwin - who was on John McCain’s short list of surprise vice-presidential nominees - has had good success when it comes to writing off golfers. He was railing against Michelle Wie since she was a pre-teen. He wrote off Retief Goosen and Goosen has never recovered.

Of course, not all of Baldwin’s pessimistic rantings come true. Take this gem from a year ago:

[Vijay] Singh is done contending in events that matter. He might win a few Wyndhams or Renos down the road, but he’s no threat to the big players anymore.

Does this mean Baldwin is an idiot? Of course not. He is an idiot, but for altogether separate reasons. Mainly, Baldwin’s flub proves one adage correct - even a blind squirrel will occasionally find a nut.

Or in this case, even a blind nut will eventually find a squirrel...Did you know that you had the GCA forum believing the Obama Architect story? I set them straight.

You think Baldwin is an idiot?

Just look at MoRon's Ryder Cup picks for the American team.

The German Combat Awards forum? There's some readership I didn't know I had.

You're right on with this on, K. I was planning to write a Vijay Singh shows I'm an idiot blog in another day or so myself (I like to let Vijay enjoy the win a little before making it all about me). Thanks for saving me the trouble though.

It would have been hard to support that idiot blog with any evidence anyways besides this one something's wrong with the cosmos and throwing things off obviously blunder.

Personally, I think I'm going to blame global warming. First, I'm wrong and then the plants start killing people a la M. Night's political movie.

As for VPs, I sure would have been a better pick than Biden, the most boring old white guy Obama could possibly find. My background has been much more thoroughly checked than Palin's though. I'll give you that.

If I'm not mistaken, Chris wrote off Padraig Harrington last year too, saying he was a fluke and he'll never win another major or something. Can we have the researchers dig this one up?

[quoting oui oui oui] "Just look at MoRon's Ryder Cup picks for the American team."

I've been looking for a more descriptive and yet demeaning nickname for ronmon for weeks. Thanks for the shortcut, it's brilliant!

[quoting wolfie] "There's some readership I didn't know I had."

ROTFL.....like you don't count your hits like an old wonam counting eggs...and you SHOULD be glad for an expanded 'readership' - since the one HERE is shrinking FAST! ;)
