Michelle Wie has worked her way back onto the PGA Tour. The teen, who utterly ruined her game the last few years by playing against the men, has announced that she has accepted a sponsor’s exemption to the 2008 Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.
“Michelle’s game continues to improve to the point she is ready to test her game on the best Tour in the world,"Tournament Director Michael Stearns said. “I know Michelle is a great competitor and we are thrilled to have her accept our invitation to showcase her skills at our tournament. At age 53, Greg Norman has again won the British Open. An amazing final round of 70 (fix this later) gave Norman a comfortable five-shot win in what must go down as one of the great sporting achievements of all time . By winning, Norman’s reputation as a choker is gone and the icky stench that emanates from his recent divorce/remarriage is somewhat lessened.

Greg Norman, trying the impossible at the British Open, collapsed like a bag of hammers, shooting an 88 (fix this later) and finishing tied for eigth. Still, Norman’s achievements through three rounds were memorable and a true sign of the Australian’s greatness. By not winning, however, Norman’s reputation as a choker and the icky stench that emanates from his recent divorce/remarriage continues to spread.

Greg Norman is leading the British Open. Yes, Greg Norman. The 53-year-old has shot two consecutive 70s in brutal conditions at Royal Birkdale to take over the top spot in the race for the Claret Jug.
“I don’t play much, I don’t practice much, but at the same time, there’s something about this event that stimulates you,” Norman told reporters afterward.
Norman has just played five times total in 2008, missing the cut in his three attempts on the PGA Tour. But with new wife Chris Evert, a wine business, multiple other business ventures and a crisp $100 million bill owed to ...

To a point, we all have a Donald Trump in our lives. They are someone that’s a little too egotistical, a little too foolish and a little too loud. Of course, the person that comes to mind very likely doesn’t have incredible riches and unlimited television exposure.
As play begins at the British Open, the most patrician of golf tournaments, it’s interesting to look at Trump, who, despite the fact that he’s had money for some time now, excretes “new money” from his very core.
Last night on the “Colbert Report,” they did a story on Trump and his battle against the ...

Despite an increase in circulation of more than 200,000 in the past decade, publishing powerhouse Conde Nast has shut down Golf for Women magazine.
While circulation for the magazine has steadily gained, the magazine had horrific ad sale numbers over the first quarter of 2008 compared to the first quarter of 2007, seeing ad revenue drop 26.4 percent, equating to a loss of nearly $1 million in ad revenue.
GFW’s top editor, Susan K. Reed, has taken a position as editor-in-chief of O, The Oprah Magazine.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that Reed’s departure was the main reason for the shutdown:

Upon learning that Republican Presidential candidate John McCain “hates bloggers” I wasn’t too surprised. After all, when was the last time any blogger brought McCain donuts and coffee just the way he likes them.
Of course, I too have been a blogger-hater in my time. After all, I’ve written more posts mocking Tim Finchem’s insipid blog effort than Tim Finchem (or whoever) has written posts (I think they’re up to about three posts in six months). And my stinging, totally unprovoked attack on the USGA Blog has apparently led the organization just to quit blogging altogether (nothing from them since Jan. ...

Coming off another knee surgery, Tiger Woods will miss out on his hosting (and playing) duties at the AT&T National at the Congressional Country Club starting tomorrow.
