President George W. Bush MUST golf again

Tuesday May 20, 2008 | 17:44:43 235 words, 5155 views

Ok, obviously by now you know the story. President Bush was finishing a round of golf and was told a Brazilian died in Iraq. Bush thought for a moment and said “So how many is a Brazilian, anyway?” (Insert rim shot here). Anyway, Bush then said it wasn’t right for him to golf while the U.S. was at war, so he golfed again a couple months later and then called it quits (Hey, it’s golf, no one quits the first time).

Since then:

- There have been approximately 30,000 U.S. casualties in Iraq, including more than 3,000 killed.

- The price of oil has gone up nearly $100 a barrel.

- Katrina nearly swept the Gulf Coast off the map.

- The dollar has tanked

- Home foreclosures are rampant.

- Job creation has been pathetic.

- The price of gas has gone up approximately $2 a gallon.

- Bush’s approval rating has fallen from 51 percent to 28 percent.

Basically, in the nearly five years since Bush said he would give up golf, all hell has broken loose. And I blame the lack of golfing by the Chief Executive. Numbers don’t lie. George W. Bush must golf again, and soon. We as a nation just can’t afford having the president spending his time actually working.

So President Bush, please golf. Because your plan of not golfing, while sort of made with good intentions, is really messing things up for the rest of us.

Hey Wolfie,

No sensible person could ever think that President Bush has anything to do with the rising prices of crude oil and gasoline.

But assuming that he does have such influence and power, you liberals should be congratulating him for using those powers to raise fuel prices.

For years, liberals have been adamant in their belief that US citizens were using far too much of the world's natural resources, particularly petroleum products and bi-products. They insisted that if prices rose to those of European countries, Americans would use less.

But now that the speculators have driven the prices to record highs, you libs are blaming Bush for it. What happened?

Obviously Alex didn't learn anything
between 1969 and 1973.

But let's don't "blame" Bush.

I much prefer to give him credit.

Bubba,

I learned enough that even though you didn't deserve it, it was my duty to protect and to defend your right to express and to prove your ignorance.

Alex,

That's an excellent point, really. But, you see, it just goes to prove that a liberal is like a woman: you just can't make him happy. He'll always find something to complain about.

And Bubba sounds, well, like a Bubba.

U.S. casualties in Iraq - as commander-in-chief Bush is in fact responsible for this...AS WELL AS the peace initiatives now in progress there

The price of oil - mostly due to spot-market speculation, control of which resides with investors NOT Bush

Katrina - good god....it was a natural disaster wolfie....surely you don't blame Bush for a hurricane???

Judge Smails and BV,

What a liberal like the Wolfman doesn't understand is that military people can't take politics into consideration when the job has to be done.

We have suffered slightly more than 3,000 deaths due to hostile action in Iraq, and over 4,000 deaths from all causes. These deaths are truly regretable, but what they don't need is retribution, not hand-wringing.

To military officers, the success or failure of combat action is the amount of destruction that our forces can wreak on the enemy while minimizing our own casualties. By those measures, our actions in both Afghanistan and Iraq have been great successes. By conservative estimates, our guys have killed or captured the enemy by a ratio of about 75 to 1. For the information of all the would-be pacifists and enemy sympathizers on these boards, that is how you win a war.

It is true that our guys haven't killed all the Al Qaeda militants and the other radical Muslims, but they're working on it.

BV,

Liberals like Wolfie CAN and DO blame President Bush for Katrina. They also blame GWB and all his administration for what they perceive as slow response to the catastrophe.

Since they know nothing of logistics, they somehow believe that Bush deliberately held up the delivery of emergency food, water, and supplies.

They ignore the fact that once roads and landing strips were cleared of debris and flood water, unprecedented material and financial aid poured into the stricken areas.

But there is no sense in trying to make sense with liberals where Bush is concerned. If Wolfie's cat developed a hangnail, it would be Bush's fault.
