Golf Instructor alert! Save WorldGolf.com reader who needs grip tips

Friday February 1, 2008 | 12:57:00 pm 144 words, 3562 views

Here’s an open call to the WorldGolf.com golf instructor team - Reader Bill needs help with his grip. Desperately:

“I obsess about the grip. It seems that I don’t mold my left hand properly to the grip. I’m 5′7″ and maybe my clubs are too tall for me. I seem to have a hard time getting my left hand to lie down softly and properly on the grip. As a result, my right hand grip is off and I hit these 2 fairway over hooks as a result. Do you have any suggestions before I kill myself or worse give up the game?”

So instructors, we need your help, stat! He said he may quit the game, and I think he means it! So, Karen Palacios-Jansen, Marc Solomon, Chuck Evans, Joe Beck, Kellie Stenzel, et al, your help is needed! Help Bill with his grip!

Every bad grip I see is because of a bad set up I have seen countless golf professionals try to help someone with a bad grip ignoring how the person sets up, this is sad. Just get on my blog www.stevewozeniak.com and get to the set up article and your grip will be perfect.

K., you realized you posted this on Friday? Golf instructors don't work on Fridays. Please ... Fridays! They keep hours that would make a banker swoon. Or to put it in your political bent, even George W. Bush thinks golf instructors don't work enough.

Except for this Steve Woz dude who even I have to respect. But the rest? The reader can expect his response two weeks from Tuesday.

No offense to my Marine drill sergeant Chuck Evans.

You might want to experiment with the Reverse Taper grip by Feel Golf. It is thinner at the top and therefore encourages a "finger" grip of the left hand.
