Once again, WorldGolf.com will have a presence at one of golf’s biggest events, as Brandon Tucker will be reporting and blogging from Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C., giving readers the inside scoop from the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open.
Obviously, this is a positive situation in many ways, as readers will benefit from Brandon’s unique perspective. Also, it means fans of women’s golf won’t have to depend on the USGA’s Web site, which looks snazzy now, but is likely scheduled for a complete implosion moments after the first tee shot is taken.
Of course, there is a downside. Tucker, a Michigan native, will now miss out on the most important scientific search in the history of his home state - the hunt for Bigfoot.
‘Bigfoot’ expedition planned in Michigan
Researchers will visit Michigan’s Upper Peninsula next month to search for evidence of the legendary creature known as “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch.”
The expedition will focus on eastern Marquette County, said Matthew Moneymaker of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.
“We’ll be looking for evidence supporting a presence. … We hope to meet local people who might have seen a Sasquatch or heard of someone else who had an encounter,” Moneymaker told the Daily Press of Escanaba.
The legend of Bigfoot dates back centuries. But skeptics have challenged accounts of sightings, and practical jokers have staged hoaxes that have included grainy film footage of people dressed in costumes.
But Moneymaker said members of his organization have either glimpsed Bigfoot or gotten close enough to hear the creature in all but three of 30 expeditions in the United States and Canada.
So sadly, young Mr. Tucker won’t be able to go on this groundbreaking hunt for Sasquatch with Mr. Moneymaker (could a pseudoscientist be better named?).
While Tucker will be unable to attend the hunt for the non-existent entity, we’d like to suggest that actor Tom Cruise take his place in the fruitless foraging. Mr. Cruise will apparently believe anything, after all.
