A tough round in Reno proves I'm a better golfer than Chris Baldwin
Let it be known that Chris Baldwin’s claims of being the world’s “worst golf-playing golf writer” in the world are not just mindless hyperbole, like the majority of his claims.
I had the opportunity to play Arrowcreek Golf Club, a top-notch course in Reno and I struggled mightily throughout the round. With a 136 slope rating from the tips, and little forgiveness for errant shots, it’s a tough course that saw me bat the ball around for a 105.
Feeling aghast at my round, I spoke afterward with one of my playing partners, Larry Windsor of Golf the High Sierra.
“Oh, I’ve seen Baldwin and he’s just awful to watch,” Windsor said. “You could spot him 10 shots on the front and 10 on the back and you’d still whip him.”
So I have that going for me, at very least. I may not be much, but I’m better than Baldwin. Of course, maybe I need to set my sights just a tad higher.
