Golf Tea: The final frontier of marketing shoves golf down your throat

Tuesday July 4, 2006 | 01:07:54 pm 212 words, 2288 views

Because it was only a matter of time before someone stooped this low, Gadot Biochemical Industries brings us that new beverage craze: Golf Tea.

Golf Tea.

GET IT????!!!!

Yes, Golf Tea. The first tea product that allows its marketers to use phrases like:

“Everyone knows you can’t play a round of golf without a tee, so for the next round, plan to tee off fully hydrated with the finest tea in the world.”

I wonder what Richard H. Davis, President of Beverage Marketing USA, Inc., thinks about Golf Tea.

“Golf Tea may also help improve your over-all game because proper hydration and concentration are the necessary elements for great golf,” said Davis.

Well, he certainly appears to be a fan. I bet Brad Weidman, Founder and President of The WBC, has some strong thoughts on Golf Tea, as well.

“The introduction of our new Golf Tea line of premium iced teas is part of our quest for true golf refreshment,” said Weidman.

Wow. So Golf Tea wasn’t just somebody’s idea of a nifty marketing gimmick. It was an actual quest. And with flavors like “Black Tea Lemonade,” and “On The Green,” it’s really only a matter of time until literally several golf courses around the country carry this fine new product.

Slow news day, huh? I consider a sound swing, focus, and rhythm to be the essential elements of golf. Tea comes next.

I mentioned this one at my tea Web site the other day. I can see nothing about the product that would make it "golf" tea, but I guess it's no worse than anyone else's gimmick.

Yes, I get it, WKW, but I haven't seen it nor tried it. I wonder if it's any good...

Arnold Palmer's Lemonade/Tea combo is a bit weak.
