Tough times at the U.S. Open for Tiger Woods may be somewhat soothed by his continued good showing in “The Celebrity 100” by Forbes.
Woods is the highest-ranked athlete by far on the list, which displays the “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” (the “World” in this case encompassing the United States and parts of the UK). Woods comes in fifth overall, ahead of such power players as Steven Spielberg, Donald Trump and 50 Cent.
“Tiger Woods, who has been in the top five for the last five years straight, once again is ranked fifth, making $90 million over the last year, mostly from endorsements (although with $58 million in career earnings, Woods has made 25% more from actually playing golf than any golfer in history),” the story explains.
While Tiger’s inclusion at the top is once again proof that the U.S. loves its winners, Phil Mickelson is seeing his success on and off the court be recognized by self-important, corporate magazines, as well. Lefty comes in 18th, up 29 spots from last year.
Tom Cruise took the top spot in the highly scientific rankings, once and for all proving that Scientology is the one true religion and that he’s not a nutcase.
