As the naive schoolboy frolicking through the woods that I am, I was caught unawares that so many of our readers would be wounded by my notion that South Korean golfers dominating the LPGA Tour is a, more or less, boring development.
Since the degree of my feelings for my readers ranges so hot (and, FYI, can be transferred into kelvin using the formula: K = (°F + 459.67) / 1.8), I feel a full apology is in order to those who feel offended by my thoughts. And this apology will be forthcoming - the moment Jeong Jang or Mi Hyun ...

Three things gleaned from Michelle Wie’s chat with the press yesterday as the U.S. Women’s Open draws ever closer:
One: She is a born marketer. Among the first words she spoke were the names of her sponsors and the “new goodies” they give her.
Two: She’s as 16 as 16 can be and has the ambition to prove it. You will never hear anyone older than 17 say the words “And I just want to use my good golf to make a better world.” But she seems to mean it and has already been “using my sponsors to help me donate money” ...

In a world where professional athletes use performance-enhancing drugs, we normal people have become used to seeing inflated stats and surreal achievements that couldn’t be accomplished by normal human beings.
Many worry that the use of performance-enhancing drugs will spill over into golf, while others will point out that this has likely occurred. It seems plausible, as athletes and others either come forward or are busted, making this problem seem more serious. More than ever, it’s apparent that we are seeing unnatural performances by drugged-upped individuals.
Take Rush Limbaugh’s penis, for example. Limbaugh, who works in the radio industry and was ...

A quick lesson to my many fellow Americans who don’t follow soccer:
In World Cup play, it’s hard to get a penalty called, which is as it should be. However, in the final 10 seconds of injury time in a tie game, a defender needs to use a weapon of some sort to stop an offensive player in order to earn a penalty. Say, a wooden board with the business end of a nail sticking out of it. Or a gun. Then, and only then, can you call a penalty.
Nonetheless, the monstrous screwing Australia received by the ref against ...

Here at the Golfer Supremacy Rankings, winning is the most important thing. Sure, you may have won big titles before, but unless you win TODAY, well, we think you suck.
Unless, you happen to be a 16-year-old girl. Then, coming close to winning is more than enough for us.

Comments: After rain forced postponement of the final round, Curtis takes his 900-shot lead into Monday’s final few holes of the Booz Allen Classic. Curtis, who had to listen to “when are you going to win again, anyway” for nearly three full years since winning the 2003 British ...

Here at Narcissism Central, we like to cover a variety of subjects. Most of these subjects, of course, involve either ourselves, or our fellow bloggers and involve golf generally only out of happenstance.
So we get Chris Baldwin blogging about Ron Mon, while Brandon Tucker blogs about Chris Baldwin blogging about Ron Mon. Or we get Tim McDonald – in his official role of Travelgolf.com blogging Obi Wan – scolding Golf for Beginners and Shanks for random infractions.
Then there’s the fact that it’s starting to appear that Baldwin and Tucker have both declared jihad on ever actually writing about travel, golf ...

It is believed to be Frederick Douglass who first said:
“A land where a 92-year-old can’t drive a golf cart to a store is a land without freedom.”
Sure, these words have been invented by the author and then randomly and haphazardly attributed, but that makes no difference. Because now these words ring more true than when they were first uttered, lo’ those seconds ago.
To wit: The decision of the Cedaredge (Colorado) town marshal Tom Early to ban golf carts from the streets of his quiet, little mountain town.
One problem with Early’s decision: Common sense. It seems some folks in small ...

How often do we find that we would golf much more if not for lack of finances? How much more would we enjoy the game if not for the ridiculously high prices?
Well, some guy in Ohio is doing something about it. Looking to sell his body, and perhaps soul for a better golf season, this man has decided to offer bidders the opportunity to:
Sponsor my golf season!!!!! Tons of publicity!!!!
Basically, what this guy wants is corporate sponsorship for his golf habit. Which comes to playing golf about three times a week, plus weekend tournaments, golfing while on vacation, etc. ...

The Golfer Supremacy Rankings accept that not everything can be beautiful. Sadly, some tournaments have a winner who finishes over par. Just like some soccer games finish 0-0.
This doesn’t take away from the event, however. In fact, some times a lack of beauty can be beautiful. Are you following? You see, like in the U.S. Open, sure the scores got high, but the end result was still quite interesting. Hence, it can be beautiful. Right?
Oh screw it. Here’s a picture of smoking-hot R&B singer Rihanna to help us get back on track:

Having more than once fallen into the trap of thinking David Duval had turned his failing career around, I’m not about to shred up any newspapers and close down Main Street for his stellar 68 on Friday at the U.S. Open.
It was obviously an outstanding round for Duval, but the problem is, many of us have been sucked into this ray of hope that somehow Duval would re-capture the glory that made him the No. 1 golfer in the world. But in the end, we are let down.
David Duval
So, using past performance as a guide, my prediction for Duval, ...

Tough times at the U.S. Open for Tiger Woods may be somewhat soothed by his continued good showing in “The Celebrity 100” by Forbes.
Woods is the highest-ranked athlete by far on the list, which displays the “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” (the “World” in this case encompassing the United States and parts of the UK). Woods comes in fifth overall, ahead of such power players as Steven Spielberg, Donald Trump and 50 Cent.
“Tiger Woods, who has been in the top five for the last five years straight, once again is ranked fifth, making $90 million over the last year, ...

We are traveling through a moment in time where it is bliss to be a sports fan. The options are everywhere, and they all feature the biggest names in sport.
The World Cup features Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Arjen Robben and the every big name the sport has to offer. The NBA Finals have Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks taking on Shaquille O’Neal and Dwayne Wade’s Miami Heat. Heck, Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright will be fighting for the middleweight crown over the weekend.
And, of course, the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, where Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and others look to further etch ...

The more you learn about Canadians, the more you want to pick them up, spin them around and blow raspberry’s on their bellies. Canucks rank right next to four-day-old puppies on the cuteness scale.
They are even cuter now, as the Stanley Cup Finals are coming to a close. Cute, and completely shut off from the rest of the world, where events like the World Cup are going on, while the U.S. Open prepares for lift off.
But it’s the Stanley Cup Finals, so the Canadians are almost completely out of the loop.
“It’s amazing what you don’t hear. I was watching ...

After watching the U.S. tank like a group of frightened children in a 3-0 loss to the Czech Republic, and Italy destroy Ghana, 2-0 in the World Cup, this thought occurred to me:
If LPGA golfer Virada Nirapathpongporn met and married Ghana attacker Razak Pimpong, she could become Virada Pimpong-Nirapathpongporn.
Sadly, that joke, in all its lameness, was better than anything that happened to the U.S. soccer team today.

Here at the Golfer Supremacy Rankings, we value two things more than any other:
1) Bribes. Of any value. We can’t be insulted. We practice Cunningham-lingus here, if you catch our drift.
2) Reality.
Sometimes reality hurts, but it is not our job at the GSR’s to make it all better. Which is why, the gushing of some aside, a PGA celebrity pro-am will still draw more interest than an LPGA major.
We believe this with all our hearts. Unless you pay us to believe differently, of course.

As someone who has made some bonehead predictions in the past, I’ve learned some valuable lessons regarding prognostication. The most important lesson is to always make your predictions in bulk. This is the “Carpet-Bombing” technique.
Now, keep in mind that no predictions are foolproof, but I can say with complete confidence that every single pick made here will come true.

When great grandpa Wolfrum first came up with the concept for the Golfer Supremacy Rankings all those years ago, he did it dreaming of the day Michelle Wie would come into existence. She represents all he believed in: golfing ability, insane popularity and controversy.
Michelle Wie is a Golfer Supremacy Rankings kind of girl. Which is interesting, because aside from Sophie Sandolo, we can’t think of a single other female golfer to get very excited about.

There was a time long ago when homosexuals wouldn’t dare speak of gay marriage. In 2006 however, a freedom permeates the land, allowing people from all walks of life to dream of liberties otherwise denied.
Which likely explains why we need to ban things like gay marriage at the constitutional level.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I see President Bush’s ploy of talking up a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage for what it really is – a “Stop looking at Iraq and out-of-control government spending” issue.
Nonetheless, it’s vital that we back the president at this time. Plus, c’mon, it’s cool to back ...
