Like the LPGA before them, the PGA’s first major of the year has the looks of a thriller.
After the second round at the Masters, on top of things is Chad Campbell, who after a torrid start has been consistent throughout the year, including beating Tiger Woods at the Match Play Championship. A major victory for Campbell puts him in a whole new category, and his current category is pretty good.
After Campbell, it’s all class. A rejuvenated Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen, Woods, and more with a reasonable shot to make a run. Heck, even Ben Crenshaw is hanging in there, keeping the slim hopes of a mind-bending victory alive.
Thus far, the Masters is more than living up to its considerable reputation. And it’s really looking like a spectacular finish is unavoidable.
Still, Tiger’s 66 on Saturday should propel him to the victory. Again, that’s unavoidable.
