Hi Tom,

I tried the Taylor Made R9 at a demo day and was fitted by the rep with reg-flex, 9.5 and 2 deg closed. I was getting a powerful drive and not losing the ball right (my normal fault).

I was using a Cleveland XLS reg flex, 10.5, 2 degrees open and was struggling with it. He explained that when the face is closed it actually adds loft which was the opposite of what I thought. I think I was keeping the face open on my Cleveland driver to compensate for the low ball and hence losing it right.

As I did not have the $$$'s to get the new R9 I have gone back to my old Cleveland Launcher while I wait for a drop in price before getting the R9.

Just another reason to go to a club fitter for your clubs.

Knee problems are indeed serious issues. Perhaps Tiger Woods underestimated the problem.

Ha ha. As we head into the PGA woods doesn't have a major and is unlikely to win the PGA either. Why does he always start slow at the majors? All the comments here are way of the mark and Tom's being proved right!

We have similar problems this side of the pond with carriers charging for baggage. Up to a couple years ago you could put your golf bag in the hold at no extra cost. Now most UK carriers charge up to 20 pounds each way plus a further cost to put a suitcase in the hold. On the last golf trip I had to Spain back in June the final cost of the return airfare was in effect double the price if I only turned up with a small bag that could go onboard with me in the cabin. May be looking to hire clubs at the resort in future.
