PGA Show: Cutters Gloves crosses from football into golf

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – I came here to hit golf balls, not grip the football like Edgerrin James or catch passes like Anquan Boldin. According to Cutters Gloves, I can now do both.
Talk about a bonus twist of fate. Cutters Gloves, which has made football gloves for years and counts 90 or so NFL players as clients, is making its first foray into the golf business. And Sunday, James and Boldin of the Arizona Cardinals will be wearing Cutters gear in Super Bowl XLIII down the road in Tampa.
Dave Venneri, VP of Sales & Marketing, told me at the exhibitor tent here that Michigan, Notre Dame and UCLA are among college teams on his client roster. Randy Moss of the New England Patriots is another high-profile Cutters glove-wearing receiver.
Cutters took its sticky C-Tack material that proved effective in football and designed a similar golf glove. It looks indestructible (especially in the palm area), although I’ll put it through my various swing tests and get back to you with the results.
First impressions … Like the Cardinals, if Phoenix-based Cutters does it right, it might become the Cinderella team in its league.
