I've tried video, and it didn't help at all. I was told my swing was getting better but my results where getting worse! That doesn't make sense to me!

As I've said before, Marc is quite wise. He consistently points out, in so many words, that if you think too much, paralysis by analysis sets in.

I'll try to lend this some perspective. Video analysis is like nuclear energy: It can be valuable, but it's deadly in the wrong hands.

I have videotaped my swing religiously at times, but I know what to look for. I don't try to make myself fit into a cookie-cutter mold, nor do I attach importance to what's most noticeable: idiosyncrasies.

Then, I also understand that even if I am going to effect a change, it's a matter of FEEL. You can't think technically; rather, you have to develop a feel for the change and understand what the whole swing will feel like once the chance is incorporated into it.

Patrick I don't see the similarities between your example and the article? Do you work for Golftec?

"What makes a Golfer think that if they can watch Tiger, or as the brilliant marketers of video analysis put it: ‘we’ll compare you to someone that has a comparable body type as you’ – what makes you think that’s going to help you?"

His argument is that a golfer who uses video analysis to make him play like Tiger is an idiot. But isn't a golfer who goes to a monkey golf school thinking he'll play like Tiger because of it just as stupid? It is an unreasonable expectation that you will play Tiger no matter what type of instruction you get.

I don't work for Golftec or anything golf related. I just don't like his flawed logic. All he is trying to do is pimp his golf school by putting down the competition.

I'm not saying video analysis is a magic bullet. I like it because I can see for myself what I am doing wrong. I don't have the finely tuned body awareness so I'm not always aware of the details. Seeing what I am doing definitely helps me, more than just having someone tell me.

Video only helps if the professional understands the golf swing. Very few do so in this case I would agree not to use it.
