Marc,

Say what you will about golf instruction, but don't you ever, ever bash Boons Farm like this again...

I dig your posts, man. Keep it up.

Marc, I have totally agreed with your previous views on instruction. However, the viewpoint and perception that more expensive is more betterer is typical of what is happening throughout the golf industry. I've been to overpriced golf courses where neither one's money nor presence is appreciated. I know many instructors who charge a fortune but cannot explain how to sharpen a pencil with a knife nevermind how to swing a golf club.

Marc (odd spelling?)
I completely agree with Dave, only I would like to compare it to
Skiing, because I accell at skiing and am relatively new to golf I find myself
frustrated at the golf industry's closed circle of information and inability to
shed the "rich mans sport" moniker. Not that Skiing is without it's class
status, but if you want to learn, instruction can be had from more than just the area ski school. I got good by talking technique all the time with whom ever I skied with and got around all the macho head games by being sincere about wanting to get to the heart of getting better and being the best skier I could. In trying to apply this to golf I have run into more hacks than I care to mention but on occasion will run into someone who really understands the swing and can illustrate that back in terms I can understand and is willing to talk, and talk and talk.
(I used to be a professional ski instructor and most of the other instructors were hacks and not worth taking a lesson from) My new
technique is to hang around the high school golf team and talk with the best of them, this has led to being introduced to golfers who play in state tournaments (not college) and get sponsored, they in turn help the golf coaches with instruction and they are into technique big time.
Keep on talking golf
