Though often overlooked, Massachusetts is a little state with a big-time golf reputation, including host to some of the decade’s most memorable golf events.

Host Ben Larsen highlights the golf courses and many prestigious Massachusetts golf events on this edition of Sweet Spots.

“What New Englanders lose sight of from time to time is all the wonderful golf memories that are unique to the region,” says Larsen.

He also welcomes special guest Jim McCabe, sportswriter for the Boston Globe, who talks about the state’s many recent golf events and also serves up some picks of his favorite courses to play.

Great to see a recent post on a golf course in the U.S.! We certainly need to hear about more of those.

There are incredible resorts opening up in the Texas Hill Country area as well. The newest will be the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa opening in the spring of 2010. The buzz is building quickly about this property due to the recent golf announcement of the Valero Texas Open which will change venues in 2010 to the new TPC San Antonio course located at the resort – hopefully we will bring in some really big golfers too! I for one am happy just to have a new spot for friends and family to stay when visiting – it’s connected to a bird sanctuary and surrounded by rolling hills so the views will be incredible. It’s exciting to hear the direction my city is heading in so I thought I’d share!
