KURO KAGE shafts for woods, hybrids and irons
This past Christmas I received a new set of KURO KAGE shafts for my irons which I’m very eager to try out.
The KURO KAGE series of golf shafts would not have been technically possible as little as two to three years ago. Mitsubishi Rayon’s team of engineers has found a way to create a new High Density Prepreg: A prepreg material with 15 percent more carbon fiber and much less resin (20 percent vs. 33 percent) than found in standard shaft prepreg.
The initial KURO KAGE design features Mitsubishi Rayon’s signature “smooth” bend profile, offering balanced stiffness at both ends of the shaft with a softer mid section. The High Density Prepreg has been positioned in the lower third, for enhanced feel and stability in this new series.
High Density Prepreg
Mitsubishi Rayon has combined its tour-proven “smooth” bend profile with a new High Density Prepreg. A higher density of Carbon Fibers and less resin translates into increased stability and enhanced feel. The weight saved by using less resin allows Mitsubishi Rayon to have more control over the entire profile.
The KURO KAGE bend profile, with its firm tip, soft mid section, and firm butt section, provides golfers of all skill levels with a versatile shaft that will respond throughout the swing. The addition of the High Density Prepreg to the lower third of the shaft allows Mitsubishi Rayon to create a shaft that is stable without a harsh feel.
