New lodge at Florida's Streamsong Resort set to open in January 2014
Streamsong Resort in central Florida, officially opened less than a year ago, has become an instant classic and has already collected numerous awards and prizes. I was blown away by the experience the first time I set foot on the property (see “Florida’s 36-hole Streamsong Resort near Tampa is the new ‘Bandon Dunes South’“). In fact, I loved it so much, that I flew back in January just to visit the resort again!
The two 18-holes courses designed by Tom Doak and the duo of Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw are unlike anything else I have ever seen and they are already considered to be among the best public-access courses in the country!
The property’s only drawback was the limited number of rooms (only one dozen, located in the clubhouse). However, this is finally set to change in January, when Streamsong’s 216 modern Main Lodge guestrooms and suites (ranging in size from 530- to 1,167-square-feet) will open. A majority of rooms have inspiring water views. These private, spacious rooms feature touches like a separate seating area, dual-HD televisions with premium cable channels, writing desk, dual-sink bathrooms, an in-room mini-refrigerator and a library.
Streamsong’s natural environment will play a key role in its guests’ experience, whether they opt for a guided excursion on one of the property’s bass fishing lakes; explore the nature trails (known for prime bird watching); try their hand at sporting clays; relax by the lakeside infinity pool; or take in the incredible stargazing from the lodge’s incomparable rooftop terrace.
Guests will attain a higher level of relaxation and rejuvenation at the 7,000-square-foot grotto-style Spa at Streamsong, with its seven therapeutic water treatments, including five unique pool experiences, a relaxation water treatment, and an arctic cascade; nine treatment rooms; exclusive products and personalized services aimed to renew both body and mind. A metaphor for the prehistoric floods that once covered the region, the Spa will be located in the carriage of the Lodge complete with a fully equipped fitness center offering the best in renewal, including yoga, Pilates and more.
Streamsong will tempt every palate with four casual and fine dining options, including a contemporary indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge featuring American pub-style small plate dishes; a classic, casual Florida cuisine, three-meal restaurant; a fine dining restaurant with contemporary, fresh Italian cuisine; and Restaurant Fifty-Nine – a steakhouse theme in a clubhouse setting.
Rooms in the new lodge can already be booked. While the resort will be a perfect destination for any buddies trip, it will also work well for couples where ladies can be pampered in the spa (if they don’t want to play 36 holes a day).
