In response to: Forget David Leadbetter- Golf Instruction has regressed in the last 50 years

urcrazy [Visitor]
Wow! Yes he is a horrible teacher that is why all of these professionals trust their lively hood with him. This is why parents pay thousands of dollars for their kids to get instruction at his schools. If you can't break 80 you suck at golf and shouldn't be talking about who can teach and who can't because obviously you haven't had a lesson from him.
Your problem is that you have such a lack of knowledgey you don't know which drills of his to use and which you shuld leave alone. If you were to decline his free advice you are an idiot. I think if Warren Buffet gave me some advice I would take it. Sorry Warren but my buddy gives me all my investing advice.
Why Lead better is such a great teacher because he makes the swing simple and uses a drill for feel. Of course your 25 handicap makes you more of an expert than all of those players on the lpga, pga, seniors and other tours across the world. Penick was great but doesn't 1/10th the majors Leadbetter has. I read every Penick book, watched every video and he was great. But he is no Lead. I've been to his academy several times and my improvement is amazing. After years of trying to figure out why I sucked through lessons magazines, videos etc. They not only showed me why but how to fix myself by looking at my swing. All swings are different and they all have faults that causes misses. He can tell you why you hit the shots you do and tell you what to do to work on it.

In response to: Titleist: The number one ball and the number one ad campaign in golf

Dan Ruzicka [Visitor]
I am guessing that many comments here are not from Low Handicap Golfers. I can tell you I hate paying $48 plus tax a dozen for Golf balls but the Pro V1 for a 4 handicap and below is without equal. No Offense I use a $50 Tenis racket and a $700 one would not help my game but for those with certain skill levels it makes all the difference. When I get to be 95 years old I will switch to the Titleist Carry ball with Hieght as it goal. I am in Marketing and I whole heartedly agree that many national ads make me certain that the producers and the folks that sign up to spend tens of millons are ALL on drugs or drunk to create/payfor some of the stuff that is TERRible. My 2 cents.

It's better to play it safe with this type of event. No need to have a tragedy befall some of the world's top players.

You insinuated that one of the sole purposes of religion is to keep all the dimwits well-behaved. It sounded for a moment like you were stating that you're not really religious - you just think it's good in the maintainence of a nanny state.. The fundamental idea -- that the heavens revolve around the Earth -- was wrong, just as Hux's idea that doing the fashionable thing is more important than life or liberty is wrong. I have a problem with Hux's use of the phrase, "We all know that...". With this phrase, he doesn't need to prove his claim that the health effects of secondhand smoke are negligible; he merely accepts it as fact. To put it another way, when confronted with the real facts, he usually defends himself with some weak explanation about how materialistic lotharios are more deserving of honor than our nation's war heroes. An equal but opposite observation is that posterity will have little occasion to glorify his "heroic" existence in a new epic

If a team can not score a single point in four games and the board feels that they need something to happen. Then The best option would be to Fire the Coaching staff and hire someone like ME.
I will donate 1/2 my pay to the school/ football program for the first year. If I can't bring a winning season to the school In one year then I will gladly walk.
I will drive from Grand Rapids everyday to coach.

In response to: Good News - Vijay Singh not in Bob Hope Chrysler Classic field

Ras Judah [Visitor]
Vijay is a first class golfer and a first class person. He is humble, hard working, charitable, friendly, and exudes a spirit of joy and love for the game. I find it a sad indictment of our culture that these attributes are considered "boring." I guess Tiger Woods slinging his clubs and cursing frequently is more entertaining to some, but not to me. I think Vijay is undercovered by the networks and commentators because of his politically incorrect comments about Anika Sorenstam playing on tour. But I respect Vijay for having the courage to say what most others on tour also felt. Also, I think people who dislike Vijay are proably racists who think all minorities should speak, think, and act according to racist stereotypes. Vijay is a golf legend, and he is why I started to follow the game. We all know Tiger Woods is the best of all, but for me Vijay will always be number 1!!!!

We are at a great time in golfing history. We've had a chance to watch the greatest golfer of all time. I've always said, the only thing that prevents Tiger Woods from beating all the records, is 'Tiger Woods'. His body (knee) may not hold up, or he may just not want it any longer once he reaches a certain age. I'd love to see Tiger winning tournaments at 50, but I'm not sure he will choose to be around that long.

In response to: Forget David Leadbetter- Golf Instruction has regressed in the last 50 years

marc sabater [Visitor] · http://visitor
hello my name is marc i,m a professional instructor and i worked since 3 years in a leadbetter academi and i only can to say about david is the tiger woods of the teachers i don,t know what is the problem about him and the reasons that i say it,s clear like the fairwais of augusta.

1.-12 majors not only with one player faldo price els.never one teachers get this
2.-his students are very good players but not only works with a good swings and mechanic swings bart brian robert allenby are not the examples with the leadbetter swing, but are a good players too
3.- trevor immelman works with leadbetter and is the leaderboard the 3rd day in masters.
4.- david says to his teachers never touch the swing directly if is not necessary he works more time with the dinamic aspects and the adress.
5.-i continue using this sistem and i know a diferents, jacobs golf in machine etc but it is the best thing that i can help to my students.
about michelle wie, his swing is better than 2004 for diferents things but it,s possible she doesn,t feel mentally ready to play and practice but that only knows herself.

TIGER vs. ROGER [Visitor]
TIGER vs. ROGER - In 2008 he will try to win the U.S. Open for the 5th year in a row. Also in 2008 he will be trying to win WIMBLEDON for the 6th year in a row. Furthermore in 2008, if he wins at least 3 out of the 4 majors like he did in 2006 and 2007 he will be the ALL TIME GRAND SLAM LEADER in his sport. In the history of Golf and Tennis he is the only person to win 3 out of 4 majors in the same year 3 times. It's not Tiger! HIS NAME IS ROGER FEDERER AND HE IS ONLY 26.

Can't disagree with this. I was one of those who
bought the swing setter and it's in my closest,
never to come out again. I can't get it to work
for or against me!

And although I must admit to buying Golf Digest
and watching the Golf Channel, everytime I read
the swing tips, I remember my golf pro telling me
that The Golf Channel is good for her business.
Everytime a student tries something after reading
a golf magazine or watching the golf channel, they
come running back to her to repair the damage - haha.

As for Michelle Wie...one of the saddest stories in
sport if you ask me - such potential being abused,
exploited and wasted by those who should care and
comfort her.

For all you Larry Bird bashers out there, he won a respectable 3 titles and is still arugbly the best ever. Yes, I said best ever, especially at his position, small foward. He won Rookie of the Year, 9 straight All NBA 1st team selections, 3 straight MVPs, 2 final MVPs, some ALL defensive nba selections, an olympic gold medal and 3 championships without a Kareem, Shaq or Chamberlin. Parish and Mchale were good but they couldn't win championships bythemselfs. When Russell was playing there were only like eight nba teams in the league, and i'm sure easier to win a championship. Keep in mind Larry Bird had to face Magic, Jordan, and a probably the best players the league has ever seen. His stats were incredible too, He had 5 years of over .400 from beyond the arc, which is incredible, some years he had like .427, .419. Last years top 3 point field goal percentager was Jason Kapone and he barley cracked .400. Larry bird was the best all around player ever. He had an inside and outside game, was a good defensive player, one of the best clutch players, and could even post in the paint. Micheal Jordan couldn't post in the paint and his 3 point shots weren't nearly as good as Birds. So the number of championships doesn't rank how good of a player you are, Robert Horray has 7 and he wasn't even ever an all-star. Along with Bird's stats, dominance in the eastern conference, the leader of 3 nba championships teams, numerous personal awards like 3 consecutive mvps, Bird is the Babe Ruth of basketball. There might have been a few players a little better than him, but he's still the legend.

lets do the right thing here and just look at the
stats.... the babe was so much better than everyone
of his era. a year or two he hit more homeruns than any other team in the league. he leads very stat available in hitting in the same number of bats .... i think bonds is a great player maybe in the top 5 but i dont think he is the greatest ..even with the help of steroids he still comes up second to ruth in the same number of at bats. race should not b a factor, i think wilt was the greatest basketball player ever .....but u know , bird was good too !! hey u dont ever hear about pete maravich still holding all the college scoring records.......racism....lol

In response to: Part 1: Pinehurst 2, Whistling Straits- what really makes a golf course great for the average player?

golfgod [Visitor]
I am a caddie at Whistling Straits and although 18 is
a hard hole, if played right par is not out of the
question at all. Its a great course and you need to
play it atleast once in your life. As for #5, there
was not much Pete could do with that hole because of
the enviromental issues the DNR was putting up with
the lakes they coudln't remove. Most people love the
experience.
